Joey Riggs
I'm looking for some D-Tap to USB options primarily for powering the latest macbook pro off a v-mount battery. While usb-c 96w would be ideal, the market out there looks rather small, so open to other solutions: lower wattage, D-Tap to USB A, Dtap to AC, etc... Anyone have any experience with these or can recommended something? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1385338-REG/gyrovu_gv_dtap_usbc_d_tap_p_tap_to_usb_c_30.html/qa https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1361787-REG/indipro_tools_gp5dt3_indipro_d_tap_to_regulated.html https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1438942-REG/tether_tools_sdac110_onsite_d_tap_to_ac.html Edited December 18, 2019 by Joey Riggs
Adam Froehlich
I got this as an ad today on Instagram, seems to offer 60w out from D-tap, and 90w out from 4-pin XLR (a D-tap-to-4Pin would seem like it would work?). They claim the 90W is compatible with all MacBooks https://rencherindustries.com/products/usb-tap?variant=31630322991207 They also have this more expensive solution that is a direct battery mount (gold or v-mount) https://rencherindustries.com/products/usb-c-battery-adapter-for-inovativ-digisystem I have no experience with their products, but just wanted to offer up alternatives. Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted December 22, 2019 Premium Member Share Posted December 22, 2019 Does the macbook need something like Qualcomm Quickcharge, or what? Many of the USB power outlets on battery adaptors and things of that type will just be 5V power supplies. Apple are sometimes not very good at releasing this sort of information. Joey Riggs
I don't think it needs a Quickcharge, but for the new macbook pros it needs a usb port that can deliver at least 60w but preferably 87-96w for the newer 15-16inch ones.
