Tim Tyler
https://www.iatse.net/news/iatse-union-launches-mutual-aid-effort-iatsecaresorg https://iatsecares.org/ Monday, March 30, 2020 New York, NY — IATSE launched its mutual aid program, dubbed Coronavirus Active Response and Engagement Service (C.A.R.E.S.) on Saturday. Through a new website, iatsecares.org the program facilitates volunteer deliveries for at-risk members, as well as a system for volunteers to intermittently check in with other members by phone. “We’ve had over 1,000 members already commit to volunteering just days after the launch of the website,” said IATSE Director of Communications Jonas Loeb. He added that C.A.R.E.S. is part of a larger campaign to organize mutual aid efforts both inside and outside of the union. Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted March 31, 2020 Premium Member Share Posted March 31, 2020 Not to shove a stick in the wheel of this, but what's the position of American crew who are not IATSE members? In the UK, the situation is grim, since current government assistance programs do not apply to people who are taxed at source, which everyone except heads of department generally is. I created a news topic in this section that addresses what the US Government (federal and state level) are doing for non-union members: In the comments of the aforementioned thread are questions and answers regarding unemployment in the US for freelancers. Additionally, for mutual aid efforts, resource, etc, here are a few: https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1uP49OQGhosfBN4BOYQvyy_Mu3mpCSOYzip13LksC-S8/mobilebasic?mc_cid=009585bee3&mc_eid=a9df1595df#h.ep6ylhlannkh https://creative-capital.org/2020/03/13/list-of-arts-resources-during-the-covid-19-outbreak/?mc_cid=009585bee3&mc_eid=a9df1595df https://docs.google.com/document/u/1/d/1Rcan4C_e6OBFBI5bUn7MtYK74Ab-WarxyJmDvZUI_YA/mobilebasic?fbclid=IwAR0VHJvbOANXp4E9nyYWsq6DowjHkLkhA9QqHIc4dquUjbP2k_3J9qQly5U&mc_cid=009585bee3&mc_eid=a9df1595df
