Got an email from a local theater chain today about how movie theatres are at risk of closing for good.

I hadn't been to a theatre in 5.5 months due to the corrosive virus. On Saturday I went for the first time to a small theatre showing an independent film festival of about 18 films. About 65% of the films had terrible sound, but that is not the deal. The deal was you had to buy your tickets ahead of time and they said they were limited to selling 30 seats in a theatre holding about 300. Out of 30 tickets only 18 tickets were sold for the single time event.  When leaving I talked with the manager. He said the state had just reduced their capacity to 25 seats for future events.

They used to have improv, comedy, plays, spoken word at that theatre. This week they had a free improv show on Zoom for the first time in ages. No one was together, everyone on separate screens.  Just not the same for improv...terrible. Gave up on it after 15 minutes.
