Daniel D. Teoli Jr.
The key to candid photography is to keep moving. https://danielteolijr.wordpress.com/2020/06/24/the-key-to-candid-photography-is-to-keep-moving/ Sure, there are other skills involved beside moving. But motion is a big one. The cine' cameramen is similar to large format still photographers. If they are not very picky technically, they don't do good work. That is the opposite of what it takes to do great candid street work. Since most cine' cameramen seem to be of the anal nature, I suspect they are not much for producing great candid street photography on the fly. It is the same as a studio photog heading out on the street to shoot candid or a street photog heading into the studio to shoot highly technical. Greatness in one area does not guarantee greatness in another area. Now, maybe if the cameraman is of the 'cinema verite' school they can carry it over to their candid still work. And they do have the exceptional people that can do it all...but I'm not one of them. With street work you need to do a decent quality of technical work, but it does not have to be great technically like the tripod shooters require. What needs to be great is the subject matter.
