If a film is shot in scope and you get it scanned, how is it converted to the stretched version if not projected through a scope lens?

Scan it normally (spherical) and desqueeze digitally it in the editor of your choice. You can either:

1. Do a custom scale manually per clip (usually reducing height by 50%).

2. Create a project with the correct final aspect ratio (say, 2.40:1 1920x800px) and have the software scale-to-fit automatically. My preferred method.

3. Create a project with the original in-camera aspect ratio but use non-square pixels to do your desqueeze. I wouldn’t recommend this method if you’re finishing digitally, since all your deliverables will require square pixels anyway.
