Giorgio Taricco
Hello guys, I'm looking for gelatine filters for the Arrilite 600 lamps, what's your advice buying gelatine filters for tungsten lamps? I think I need the High temperature ones or just standard gels would work? Also what's the best way to mount them on the arrilite 600 unit? Thanks for your help Giorgio
Stuart Brereton
Most people just clip gels to the barndoors with croc clips or clothes pegs. If you're worried about heat from the lamp causing discoloration, or melting the gel, use a frame instead for the gel, and place it a couple of feet away from the lamp. Giorgio Taricco
Thanks Stuart, that's what I was thinking to do. G.
Premium Member Stephen Sanchez Posted January 22, 2021 Premium Member Share Posted January 22, 2021 Hi Giorgio. Open face lights burn through gels on the doors a lot faster than fresnels because there is nothing collecting the heat. So anything with a lens is better for gelling on the doors. Like Stuart said, give the gel enough distance that the heat isn't a problem anymore. Perhaps build a custom wood frame that can be clamped to the stand with an arm.
