Menace Arms: Matthews vs Modern

Alright, I realize this is sort of splitting hairs but I want some input from somebody who's used both menace arms, as I've only ever used the one from Modern.

The main, most noteworthy differences are:

  • the sizes of the d-rings that you hook your straps to. The Matthews ones are larger and seem flimsier for some reason.
  • the "back" side of the Matthews kit has two rings instead of Modern's one ring design. That should make it easier to ratchet to the bottom of your stand.
  • Modern has one end with baby pins and one end with Jr. receivers. Matthews has baby pins on one end and a tube for speed rail on the other end (apparently so you can add a small piece of rail to hang sand bags on).

Anyway, I'm looking to buy one of these in the future and I'm inclined to just get what I'm used to but there must be some arguments that can be made for getting the Matthews one instead.

Thanks, everybody.

I went with the American Grip ones because the jr receiver and baby pins are on the same end, so if you're using a menace arm in different setups and swapping what lamp is on there, you don't need to re-rig the whole thing. They also come with t-handles instead of set screws which keeps setup quick, IMO.
