Simon Lucas
I have been looking at shooting some Super 8 for the first time in ages. I noticed that even b&w Super 8 film is now very expensive. I have a reloadable cartridge and want to load my own. But where do people who still load their own cartridges buy cans of super 8 these days? I can see none. Andries Molenaar
It will be difficult to find any readymade and then be more affordable. Often enough it just gives the same metre price. Possibly there is Ektachrome in S8 from Pro8mm but that will be limited to specialty fillers like single-8. This a extra from their attempt to revive DS-8 The film more economic you may need to turn to Fomapan 100 Reversal in DS-8 in rolls of 30 meter. THese need to be split. Giving two strands of S8 in 30 metres. That can be used for S8 refill cartridges. Getting it processed is then another task ? Best to DIY using a FOMA kit. But then you need a big tank. If needed I can help with the splitting. I have a setup for that. BTW splitting 10 metres rolls might work too. Easier to handle, less length in cartridge though. Film will fit the smaller Lomo tank which is easier to find. Edited March 8, 2021 by Andries Molenaar
Roger Haney
Well, there is no B/W on spools for reloading. Pro8mm just started selling Super8mm Ektachrome 100D and Vision3 50D on 200 foot daylight spools. It is about $150 for the 50D and $175 for the Ektachrome.
