Everyone has a job on the set and gives the lowdown. I'm no expert, so it helped me understand how things work
Premium Member Gregory Irwin Posted May 14, 2021 Premium Member Share Posted May 14, 2021 Thanks for sharing. I would say that these job descriptions are very simple and basic but fairly accurate. The responsibility levels for various positions - especially for department heads increase or decrease depending upon the scope of the job. For example, the “A” camera operator and the “A” camera First AC have much more responsibility and authority than the other camera team equivalents on a sizable movie. The “A” First AC is the Head of the Department and not only manages the entire camera team with regard to labor and technology but is also responsible to the producers and the Studio for keeping the camera budget and efficiency in tact. The “A” operator has more of a say as far as the creative relationship with the director and cinematographer than the additional operators. This applies to all of the other HODs as well.
