Bob Hayes
I?m looking for a ?graduated? gaffer?s glass that has very little ND on one edge and the other dark enough to look at the sun. I?ve seen them. Can?t find them. Any ideas? Bob
Premium Member John Pytlak RIP Posted April 29, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted April 29, 2004 You could try some of the variable neutral density wedges from Edmund Optics: http://www.edmundoptics.com/onlinecatalog/...?productid=1750
Bob Hayes
John: Thanks for the link. The prices are so high I think I just continue to use my two welding glasses taped together. Bob
Premium Member John Pytlak RIP Posted May 4, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted May 4, 2004 You could try making your own by exposing a silver-image B&W film to a gradient of exposure. After processing, you have a density wedge. A silver image gradient is good because it absorbs UV, visible, and IR energy, so you don't risk hurting your eyes with energy you can't see. You can ask a film lab to calibrate it with a densitometer.
