andrewbuchanan
Has anyone used the Zeiss attachment theat goes on the end of the 10-100 and some of the primes? I would like to hear anyone's experiences.
Sam Wells
The Aspheron ? I used it once to make a 12mm superspeed - hmm - like a 6.5mm or so. Worked fine. Same stuff as the Bolex Aspheron (they designed it, Kern made it) -Sam
Mitch Gross
Works fine but can easily flare. Be sure to shade the lens.
Boris Belay
I think there are two versions, the first being 'Made in Switzerland' (ie, by Kern, who made the same for the Switar 10 and Vario-Switar 12-100), and a second that is supposed to be better yet (made by Zeiss?). Sam Wells
My recollection is Kern made all of them. Don't hold me to this. There were some for Cooke zooms also. Some are plastic, some are glass. I forget which the Zeiss badged one was. -Sam

Sam Wells
The thought at the time was plastic would be easier for aspheric optics as you can mold it. Obviously plastic has caught on big time in some applications. I suppose the advances in CAD/CAM leveraged the advantage back to glass as far as aspheric in professional lenses is concerned. -Sam
andrewbuchanan
Thanks for the input everyone. A local rental place near me has one and it was cheaper than renting a wide lens (I have a 12mm Zeiss to attach it to), I was just wondering if I would get good results. It sounds like it is worth a try.
