Guest kla2207
Does anyone know if it is possible to dub mini DV tapes by connecting two cameras by firewire? I need to back up some tapes and want to know the best way to do so...besides dumping onto the computer then back to tape. If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Bryan Darling
I don't see why not. I think it would just depend on how the cameras were designed to record in VCR mode. You may need to do some fiddling in the menus when in VCR mode. Just try it and see what happens. Only thing I see being a problem is that your timecode won't copy over, so your dub's timecode will not precisely match your original.
Chien Huey
This works. I do it all the time with two cheapo 1-chippers. The strange part about one camera is that it will only record in VCR mode if you use the remote. You can press the record button on the camera until your finger goes numb and it won't record - only with the remote. The timecode thing might be a drag but in the event you have TC breaks on your master - the dub will lay down new continuous TC.
