James Steven Beverly
I've be looking at getting a splicer for my KEM machines. Which is the better way to go, a hot spicer or a tape splicer and why? B)
dd3stp233
For editing, I personally much prefer tape splicers. They are much easier, faster and simpler to use and the splices are much easier to take apart. There might be some people that like hot splicers for projection prints for various reasons but I prefer tape splicers for that also.
Premium Member Andy Sparaco SOC Posted August 10, 2006 Premium Member Share Posted August 10, 2006 Two different devices. Tape splicers are for creative editing-quick cutting and easy to take a part. Hot splicers are for making rolls to be printed ot xfered- in effect "solvent" welding of the film base.

Premium Member Bill DiPietra Posted August 12, 2006 Premium Member Share Posted August 12, 2006 As far as I remember, the only time I used the hot splicer was to put the conformed negative together. Tape splicers are used to edit the work-print...
