Need a cheap substitute for Doggicam

I want to mount a Mini-DV camera on a device to simulate a dog's perspective. I recall seeing something like this once -- a metal pole with a camera plate. Any ideas on how to make this or where to find one in NYC area would be appreciated.

Many Mini DV cameras have a 1/4" mounting hole on the top just like on the bottom. You can use a monopod to do this. If you don't have the hole then you can use a clamp attached to the monopod to do it. We have this all available for rental at Abel.
