Matthew Parnell
Bizzarely enough i attended a lecture with Mr Khondji for the ACS on friday night. Was quite entertaining and included a screening of Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait. He was also honoured with a honoury membership to the ACS. He's over here in Australia to shoot The Ruins, at Warner Bros Studios on the Gold Coast.
Premium Member Max Jacoby Posted May 21, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted May 21, 2007 The film is shot with Zeiss Master Primes and Arricam LTs. Kondji also used the Fuji Eterna stocks. Curiously for a WKW shoot they only shot for 7 weeks. Usually his shoots go on for end on end, because he doesn't have a script and makes it up as he goes along. Well, Norah certainly ate quite a bit of pie during the New York shoot... I think we shot Jude Law kissing her for about four nights. Then, Kar-Wai came back in the fall and reshot the cafe scenes right up to the point that the filming permit expired. (I hear that outside NY the weeks were more than 100 hours!)
