Daniel Madsen
a production i am working on wants to rent several cars from private owners and not through a special movie car rental facility. the idea is that this will save him a lot of money. how does one go about getting insurance for the length of time you are renting the car from somebody or don't people usually do that? is it a matter of a special contract or using a car's existing insurance but agreeing to pay the deductable? any insight would be much appreciated. dan
Premium Member Chris Keth Posted February 10, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted February 10, 2008 I've never dealt with it personally but I'm positive that getting insurance on it would be a standard. I'm quite sure that being used as a picture car (and associated risks) are not covered by standard auto insurance.
Premium Member Walter Graff Posted February 11, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted February 11, 2008 You'll need an aggregate on your insurance liabliity form specifically naming the people and liability terms and/or a special policy. Best to ask your insurance company that handles your general liability.
