PHILIPS N 2229 SYNC.SOUND CASSETTE RECORDER
and SYNPUTER TWO-BAND SYNCHRONIZER PACKAGE

This is a sync.sound cassette recorder suitable for all 8mm or 16mm film cameras, the Philips AV-N 2229 Sync. uses the 1Khz impulse system which is fairly simple in use but highly precise in 2-band filming/sync.sound recording.

Any film camera equipt with a sync.flash output socket or any pro 16mm camera which has a quartz controlled motor can be used with the Philips AV-N2229 recorder and the Synputer system.

Just like the Nagra SN which uses mono 1/8" tape, the Philips N 2229 uses the same 1/8" tape in the standard cassette cartridges, thus eliminating fussy on/off loading of the material. And again like the Nagra SN, this is a full coat mono sound recorder, running one way only. This means that unlike music cassettes you won't be able to switch sides and record on the reverse direction.

Like all sync.sound recorders, the sound is recorded on one channel and the reference information on the other, which will be needed to synchronize the recorder with projectors or other editing equipment required for a synchronous screening or dubbing.

The Philips AV-N 2229 records at a speed twice as high as the normal music cassette recorders, speed is 9.5cm/s. This is required for the editing process and to keep the sound quality at it's best and at same quality as the 1/4" professional studio recorders.
