Cinematography final project...

This is my first post here. Have been snooping around for awhile, thought I would join in now I have some real Cinematography to show off. :lol:=]

 

I just recently finished my Cinematography Final Project. I wanted to see what everyone thinks of it.

Not bad, just kind of confused on the lighting because in some shots it seems as if its at night however when the guy throws the ladder out the window, its clearly day. Lighting should be somewhat consistent unless there is a reason for changes.

I understand your confusion. The reason for the day shots was to show how easy the ladder is to use. The other reason for it was a requirement for the final project to have certain shots/lights and such (oh school :P ). Thanks for commenting. It is appreciated.

There is some potential there, but I too was thrown by the night and day shots. If a viewer is interrupted by lack of continuity (as in "wait, wasn't this night time?") then that really reduces the ability to follow along and to get absorbed in the story or message. Also, it seemed out of character, for a person to be smiling on a cell phone, while helping someone from a burning apartment.

 

Still, I think you've got some potential in your shooting.

Sorry about not responding for months. I just got caught up actually shooting things rather then spending my time on the internet. =]

The parameters consisted of having an outdoor night shot, an outdoor day shot, a shot with a practical, a window shot where the outside is not completely blown, and a 3-point lighting situation.

Thanks Tom. I appreciate your kind words. I have a lot to learn, this I know, but the best part about it is that I just crave more. I've never felt like that about anything else really (besides watching movies of course).

 

I understand the difficulty of the story line with the mixed shots and I wish that we would have not had that requirement but alas we did. It also seemed the best way to do the story in general.

 

The smile was accident (and it started down pouring right after that take which was our best one camera wise), excuses excuses I know, but the truth nonetheless. I tried to make it seem that they were happy that they got out of their place without getting set on fire.

 

I will be posting my latest work soon. I feel that its a good step up from this one.
