Elmo ST 1200 HD M Projector Question

i recently acquired this Elmo Projector. now when i first opened it to have a look inside it seemed to me the door was quite snug but now it wont seem to close all the way. when i removed the black casing over the lamp the thing would then shut the way you would expect it to "snug". im wondering what im doing wong? is the metal catch that snaps it shut bent and in the way or am i just retarted and doing something wrong. it a very nice machine and i don't want to mess it up by forcing it so i thought if anyone here had one of these maybe they would know
