Red rental

Hey everyone,

 

I am shooting a feature in Los Angeles at the end of May and I am looking for the best places to rent the Red One. I have never rented the Red and the prices seem to vary quite a bit. Obviously I am trying to strike a balance between a reasonable price with a house that is good to work with. I was hoping that someone here might be able to give me some guidance on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

 

Also if anyone has a package that they rent I would like to check that out as well. Thanks!

You don't mention what kind of budget range you're looking at, but for indies I would suggest HD Cinema - they've provided gear for four features I've shot and I've always been very happy with both their equipment and their support. They'll be providing a RED package for another feature I'm shooting at the beginning of May and their rates are more than fair.

Yes, Kappa does the Red Bootcamp. They're also a full service post facility for Red TV work. Not sure if they farm out the film outs for features, ask them if you're interested.
