Canon XL2 and EF 70mm - 200 mm 2.8 IS lens

I shoot action/wildlife photography and video as a hobby. I have the opportunity to get a EF 70mm - 200mm 2.8 lens at a good price. I know it will be a great lens for my DSL camera. I would like to know the pros and cons of using this lens with my XL2. Currently, I have a standard XL lens and a 3X wide angle. Will the EF lens give my video a more "film-like" appearance? Will it seriously upgrade my video quality for the money?

Bad news first. it will not increase "film like" appearance.

Good news it will increase telephoto properties big time.

with the draw back being loss of light.F2.8 helps a lot.

You will need the converter to adapt it to the xl2.

this will give you 500mm -1440 mm converted to 35mm

Get a sturdy tripod because stability will be an issue.

for wildlife its awesome.

I use a 200mm lens on my EF adapter, and with the magnification factor the wildlife and moon shots are amazing.
