jordan kersten
Just saw Cold Mountain tonight. I thought the cinematography was great. Anyone else have any thoughts?
Premium Member Max Jacoby Posted January 24, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted January 24, 2005 I didn't like it at all. A very bad combination of 500 ASA stock, zoom lenses and DI that made most of the film look very soft and grainy. This was especially annoying on some wide day exteriors. I am not a fan of John Seale's other work either. I think there are much more interesting cinematographers out there.
Mike Donis
I thought it looked fantastic, albeit I didn't see a film print. The grittier style gave it a grittier feel, and I thought it fit the form of the film right on the button - striking, and yet gritty. I wish I had seen it in the cinemas, though... Ben Schwartz
I also didn't care for the DI on this one, although I thought the grainy, smoked tobacco and chocolate look of the opening battle scene was amazing.
jordan kersten
I pesonally like the dark, grainy look. I felt it was appropriate for the mood of the film. I was originally refering to the style he used: angles, movements, ect. anyway, but I again, I liked it.
