Why white balancing in your camera, may be a bad idea

Recommended Posts

Very very interesting.

What I'd like to see is some footage with a real live human :D and also the spectral distribution of a plain white card filling the screen. Looks like some colors might be missing. Any way of indicating what colors are being read in that spectral display?

Cheers! ;)

Is this thread now dead? :(

No, I just don't have regular internet access at the moment :)

Karel, I have a very long reply to your previous question on my home computer. I'll get it up here eventually... I used a DVX100B with the Andromeda modification. Neat setup, the signal is grabbed directly from the A/D converters before any in camera processing or compression. The colors are there in the raw capture files, it looks washed out because of the linear to logarithmic LUT that I used for recording, so just think of it as being similar to an unprocessed grab from the RED (minus the redcode compression..) Give me a week or two and all questions will be answered!

Peace,

S-
