Guest tangaroa
Hi, after a lot of search, i can not find a charts of ultra 16. In the next days i started a Movie, with a Arriflex 416 Plus High Speed. We work in (S16) 1.85:1, Ultra 16 Lenses. (9.5, 12, 14, 18, 25, 35, 50) I wonder, if any one have a chart, for this configuration, or you know, were i can find them. Well, tanks a lot in advance. Premium Member Chris Keth Posted November 21, 2010 Premium Member Share Posted November 21, 2010 Just use S16 charts. You don't need charts specific to your series of lenses.
Saul Rodgar
Yes, S16 charts will be very close. It will be a while before someone makes specifically-made charts for a newly developed variant of and old format that very few people use.
Premium Member John Sprung Posted November 22, 2010 Premium Member Share Posted November 22, 2010 DOF is a very subjective thing, not at all precise. Sharpness doesn't suddenly fall off a cliff at the DOF limits in the charts, it's a matter of taste as to how sharp is sharp enough. Ordinary 16mm charts will be OK if you don't want to give it too much effort. If you want to go to the effort of doing some tests, you can pick the circle of confusion that you like and generate your own charts with this spreadsheet: http://www.auner.net/misc/DOF/DOF.xls -- J.S.
