George Yang
Hey guys, I've never really done the Kick Starter thing but recently one of the films I crewed for started a Kickstarter. I was wondering if anybody who had experience with a Kickstarter account could give me advice on how I could go about promoting it. The whole thing is one really long ambitious tracking shot. The gist of the story is that a female photographer gets confronted by a former juvenile on a Texan mountaintop. Can the average person look beyond the surface- to explore the judgment of one's character versus one's appearance? Those are the type of questions that this film dances around. Right now we need funding to send it through post production mastering, but the end result is something we're all really proud of. Again, I don't know enough about Kick Starter and I was wondering what I could do to improve my odds of helping the project get funded. Thanks for any advice! J Van Auken
I've only run one successful kickstarter page, but we did triple what our threshold was. What might have worked was we reached out to every film blog and twitter with any number of followers. Tell them about the project and such, and sometimes they'll feature you on the blog, give you a retweet, whatever.
T Rene
Whatever you did, you did it right, looks like you raised your goal, congratulations! What did you do I wondered about why some campaigns work on indiegogo.com and kickstarter and why some just flat out flop.
