ChrisAdams
Hey guys, I've got a 10 day shoot coming up in a studio space. We have 3 people sitting at a table in the middle of the room. I want to hang a light overhead that is super soft, and is dimmable to let the room fall off or show what is behind them depending on the day. I recommended getting a 2k Spacelight with Silk frame, but the director is now wanting to see the light in the shot sometimes. He wants it to look like a large 4-5 foot china ball. I personally think it will need to be more diffused than a china ball, plus I hate the way china balls actually look on camera with that weird pattern they have. Are there any large diffused ball type lights out there? I know that there are the inflatable ones, but I don't think we want to go that route. Any help is greatly appreciated! Jon Rosenbloom
Aren't there chimera-balls out there? I think they would look a bit too "filmy." Can you hang a set-dressing practical that suits the director's taste with low-watt bulbs, and put your soft, dimmable source above the frame? ChrisAdams
Yeah I've looked at chimera globes and JEM lights, but the biggest they have is 30". I need a sphere that is 4-5' in diameter. I'll probably going with an inflatable. Anyone know of anywhere I can rent that in the southeast?
