John Milich
Just want to know if there is a generic way one would set up a basic home flat screen computer monitor in order to do some colour grading as best as possible. I'm using Red Giant Colorista II. I just have a basic 22" Lg monitor.
Carl Looper
You can colour grade on anything really. Consistency is the more important thing. Don't change the monitor calibration once you have committed to using it. Use exactly the same room lighting for all sessions. You just need to maintain a consistent frame of reference (light wise) for the entire project. That way, if the work does need to undergo a second tweak (in a different setup) to rematch it to what you've done, it will be just one tweak (ie. a global tweak) for the entire project.
