We will be having at least 5 (practical) cars with licence plates in sight in the picture. I was going to print them with random numbers. Is this a good idea? Can I use plates that are in my posession or could it be that these "numbers" have been reused once the original cars where "trashed"? Or is there a common "cinema plate" prefix as "555" for telephone numbers? Is there a government agency dealing with this where I could get accurate answers? If you get car owner's releases on the vehicle, I'm sure that is perfectly legal. If there is a passing car, and the license plate is somehow visible, there may be a 'fair use/public place' argument, but I'd probably use After Effects and blur/replace the plate with something else, say my own car's plate... The only issue would be if there was some state law about creating detailed likeness of a plate. In the case of US 'legal tender', I believe there are certain restrictions in regard to size, full vs. partial, and resolution. So if one just has a clenched fist full of dollars, that's one thing, if one has a 1920x1080 full frame image of a bill, that may be another thing.
