Premium Member Robert Edge Posted June 1, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted June 1, 2005 I gather that this lens is not yet on the market. Does anyone know when it will be available? Are there any test reports on it, even informal/anectodal ones? Has a price been set? Thanks.
Premium Member Max Jacoby Posted June 1, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted June 1, 2005 Where did you hear about this lens? There is one Zeiss Masterzoom to match the new Master Primes, but that is 16.5-102mm T2.6. As far as I know there is only one available right now for rental and it is on the new Tom Tykwer film at the moment.
Premium Member Robert Edge Posted June 1, 2005 Author Premium Member Share Posted June 1, 2005 Where did you hear about this lens? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Go to this URL and click on the photo entitled "lightweight zoom": http://www.arri.com/entry/products.htm. Thanks for your reply to my question about production dates.
Premium Member Adam Frisch FSF Posted June 1, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted June 1, 2005 There's a serious shortage of light, portable, modern zooms, so this is very welcome. I had to shoot handheld with the Anegnieux 25-250 on my last job for some shots - not fun at all.
Premium Member Robert Edge Posted June 1, 2005 Author Premium Member Share Posted June 1, 2005 I'm thinking that this might be a good core lens for use with a super 16mm camera, and particularly with a camera like the A-Minima in stripped-down mode, supplemented where desired by a wider or longer prime. Anyway, I've sent an e-mail to Arri with some questions about this lens and will summarize the response.
Patrick Neary
you might note that this is a lens designed for 35mm, so while it would work just fine on a super-16 camera, there are plenty of smaller and lighter weight lenses out there already for s-16 (and that give a wider and longer ends of the zoom range to boot)
Premium Member Robert Edge Posted June 2, 2005 Author Premium Member Share Posted June 2, 2005 A rep from Arri informs me that this lens will be available toward the end of the year and that pricing is not yet available.
