I gather that this lens is not yet on the market.

Does anyone know when it will be available? Are there any test reports on it, even informal/anectodal ones? Has a price been set?

Thanks.

Where did you hear about this lens?

There is one Zeiss Masterzoom to match the new Master Primes, but that is 16.5-102mm T2.6. As far as I know there is only one available right now for rental and it is on the new Tom Tykwer film at the moment.

I'm thinking that this might be a good core lens for use with a super 16mm camera, and particularly with a camera like the A-Minima in stripped-down mode, supplemented where desired by a wider or longer prime.

Anyway, I've sent an e-mail to Arri with some questions about this lens and will summarize the response.

you might note that this is a lens designed for 35mm, so while it would work just fine on a super-16 camera, there are plenty of smaller and lighter weight lenses out there already for s-16 (and that give a wider and longer ends of the zoom range to boot)
