Guest Xander Assaad
Hey ya'll. I'm a new cinematographer here, and I wanted to know what your suggestions would be for books on lighting, filters, and anything relating to those that I may not have asked about. Thank you mucho! Mark Allen
http://www.cinematography.com/shop/books.asp <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's a lot of books - great resource. If you're looking for a place to start, I would recommend "Film Lighting" by Kris M. and "Directing: Shot by Shot" I would also recommend watching the movie "Visions of Light." Then I would move to something that approaches the how-to technical side.
Premium Member Chris Cooke Posted July 4, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted July 4, 2005 I just bought the book "Reflections" by Benjamin Bergery and it's a great resource. It's an excellent insight into the minds of some of the best Cinematographers. Right now there's a couple good deals with the "Reflections" book. You can buy it with "The ASC Manual" for a decent price or with "Painting with Light". Keep reading threads on this site, there are some very knowledgeable people here.
