Jonathan Bryant
I maybe looking to buy a camera jib. Have any of you have had experience with the EZFX jib or Glidecams Jib? What are some good jibs for around $1000? What are the pluses and minuses? I will be using either a JVC DV500 or Sony DSR500 camera. I already have a bogen tripod with 100mm head that I plan to use with this. Any help would be appreciated. Tim Tyler
I have a Glidecam jib and it works well. I replaced the 1/4" nuts-n-bolts with hitch pins (like this http://www.northerntool.com/images/product...es/10382_lg.jpg ) to speed up on set assembly/disassembly. I've had up to about 20 lbs. on the camera side. Just make sure you mount the jib on a solid tripod, and use a spreader.

You can order all you need from www.onlinemetals.com and McMasterCarr.com. It's rather easy and fast. Here's a website that can help.
Timothy Brown
http://kesslercrane.com/ Have heard good things about these. Have not used them personally, but intend to buy one in the very near future if they're up to the hype. Might want to give them a call to discuss your needs. The prices seem reasonable, but then again, you get what you pay for.
Guest sserge
I have EZFX, it works pretty well, setup is very quickly. I'm using 100mm Vinten12 on the end. Be sure you have tripod rated up to 140lb or more, if you want to use DSR500.
Bob Hayes
Any Ideas about cheap light weight remote heads. Pan and Tilt with a joy stick that would mount on one of theses jibs and hold a mini dv camera?

Varizoom makes a nice one for MiniDV. http://www.varizoom.com/pages/mc100.php Camera Turret is a bit more affordable. http://www.cameraturret.com/pt20.htm BW

You have to flip a switch to reverse the motor, there's no release time control like on higher end models, and those who have used the unit say it shifts under the weight of an XL1. Indeed, you get what you pay for.

What makes the EZFX jib cost about $800 more than the Glidecam Camcrane?
