altnick
Hello everyone, When I visited the largest lighting rental company here in Holland some time ago I asked about the amount of 18K HMI lights that they had. They had 2. So now my question is : How many 18K and 1.2K lights are approximatly produced and sold per year by a company like ARRI? And how many 18K or 1.2K lights does the rental company you go to approximatly have? I am asking these questions because I would like to know how big the market for new lighting products is. Thank you in advance. Bryan Onel
Premium Member John Pytlak RIP Posted April 26, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted April 26, 2004 Since lights don't really "wear out", I would assume the market for existing designs is fairly constant. But new designs that offered unique features or flexibility could find a significant market.
Mitch Gross
When you're talking about a very big, very expensive light such as an 18k, I'd guess that the total worldwide catalog from all manufactures combined was likely little more than a couple of thousand units. And I think this is being generous. When you go down to something like a 1k tungsten fresnel, then there much be millions.
