  1. I was browsing through ebay and found these lenses: 'Russian Lens VEGA9 for Krasnogorsk 1 2 3 camera'. Here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mir-11Lens-2-2-12-5m...p3286.m20.l1116 and another: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Bayonet-Lens-VEGA9-V...p3286.m20.l1116 Does any body here know much about these lenses or could shed any light on them? What is the optical quality like? Cheers. Steven
  2. Thanks for your reply. Having no access to the lens, I'm unable to make any assesements on whether the optics could cover Super 16. if any body has had any previous expirience with dealing with this lens, it would be greatly appreciated. This has probably been asked many time before, but I am looking for Zoom lens that could cover the super 16 format. So any reccomendations would be great. Regards, Steven

  8. Hey guys, I've just got my self a OPF 12-120, 16mm Zoom lens courtesty of rafcamera converted to PL, and am enjoying the results. I've not had a chance to test the lens on a super 16mm camera, but doesn't any body know of the coverage the zoom may have in this format? Additionally, can any body comment on the quality of the Kinor 16mm primes that were made? How do they deal to super 16 coverage? Comments appreciated. Thanks, Steven
  9. Hello, I've got a number of cooke kinetal lenses and was looking to get them converted to Arri PL, but some people have suggested that it would be easier and cheaper to use an adapter to utilise them. Does any body know who does a good arri standard to PL adapter? Regards, Steven

  16. Hello, I was working on a music video as a gaffer as part of my course, and we wanted to shoot a scene in a nightclub, utilising a strobe light. We were shooting on HDV, through a Movietube LT with Nikon Nikkor lenses. We shot with 9db gain, at 1/25th Shutter and used a Zenin 400w Strobe light. You could desribe the effect as a scrolling scan line which went from top to bottom gradually. Does any body know what this is and or how to fix it if not prevent it from happening again? Comments and suggestions appreciated. Regards, Steven
  17. Hello, This probably been posted before, but I wondered if any one could shed any light on the matter. I' m looking into the possibility of shooting in this aspect ratio as opposed to standard 1:78:1. Are there anamorphic lenses in super 16 available to accomplish this? Either that or are there alternative methods such as utilising anamorphic adaptors on the camera to achieve this ratio. Originally I was thinking of using spherical lenses and then cropping either in the lab or in post. The only problem with this is that I do not have access to a 2.35.1 ground glass, which makes shooting a problem. Any suggestions and/or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Regards, Steven Wyatt
  18. Hello, I was wondering if the Russian lomo lenses could be adapted into PL mount? If so would it be an affordable solution? Thanks.
  19. Hello, Excuse me if this has been asked at some point on the boards. I'm looking to get my Eclair npr modded to super 16 soon and I'm looking to aquire additional magazines as I do this, however my question is does the eclair npr magazine accept super 16 film with out any modification. I.E does a npr magazine need modification to use S16 filmstock, or do the magazines at stock level accept both single and double perforated stock. Thanks, Steven
  20. Hello, I was watching 'Superbad' a couple of days ago, and thought that the night sequences were particularly well handled. In terms of its photography, I thought it represented best, how one would view night time on a suburban street, very naturalistic but effective. For instance the street lighting, was retained and not 'bleached' out by any external lighting of any significance. I was wondering if any one here could lend me there ideas or comment on how they might have achieved the effect. Thanks for you time. Steven
  21. In that sense wouldn't a 135mm 35mm lens be longer than a 165mm 16mm lens if the 35mm lens was used on 16mm?
  22. Thanks, so in answer to my question do you mean that there is no magnification of the 35mm lenses despite it being utilised on a smaller format? I'm just curious as to why this occurance happens on a technical level. Regards, Steven
  23. Hello, I've gota problem which has been bugging me for some time now so I thought this would be the best place to post it. I was working on a short film a few days back and the DP hired out a set of 35mm Carl Ziess Planar lenses in the focal length of 50, 85 and 135mm. From what I know of 35mm optics on 16mm, doesn't the image become magnified? However the problem that arised in this case was that the images we were getting on 35mm primes didn't seem quite as telephoto. We tested a Canon 11-165mm T2.5 zoom at its telephoto end against a 135mm T2.1 Ziess Planar prime and the field of view it was giving us was pretty much the same. The primes themselves were clearly marked as 'arriflex 35mm' above there pl mount along the barrell. Having only worked on proffessional shoots on occasion, I was boggled by this, so I would appreciate if any one could find the time to answer this. Thanks, Steven
  24. Got a question, has any body tried utilising 35mm Lomo Lenses on 16mm cameras? If so, what kind of results have been produced from them? Regards, Steven
