Why on earth would someone be so vindictive and hateful to a highly respected cinematographer such as Roger Deakins? Must've been some disgruntled internet kid with nothing better to do than to stir up an argument just for his own kicks, idk.

Here is a clip of a short film shot on 35mm that I dp'd for a friend of mine. It's the first time I have ever really shot anything on 35mm.
I forgot to mention that it was shot on 5219 Vision 3 500T at a T2 on a 24mm lens.

Bokeh is the blurred or fuzzy out of focus area in an image when you have a shallow depth of field.

I'm looking for some Arri 35 2B 200 Ft mags. If anyone has one for sale please PM me.

With my Arri 2B I have no intention of going back to 4 perf should I convert it to 2 perf. I'll probably inquire from Bruce.
Thanks for the replies.

Has anyone seen one of these kits for sale lately? Looking into possibly getting one for my arri 35 2B, that is if it will work on a 2B.

Hmm interesting. Just out of curiosity what were the parameters of the project?

I honestly didn't see anything malicious in your post Ira, so not sure why she chewed you out.

Not bad, just kind of confused on the lighting because in some shots it seems as if its at night however when the guy throws the ladder out the window, its clearly day. Lighting should be somewhat consistent unless there is a reason for changes.

My wife and I saw this at the Art Institute in Chicago. I can't help always automatically associating this painting with Super 8 and vice versa. That, and Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
Could be the graininess in the picture, the colors as well as maybe how it's a painting of people by a lakeside park.

You lost me:
If you have dozens of 3X3 filters, why do you need a matte box?
In other words, you're talking about square Tiffen filters, right? Like the Cokin system? (Didn't even know and/or remember that Tiffen made the square filters.)
Do you now have a way to mount them to your lenses via a holder, and if so, what are your plans for the matte box then?
The matte box will hold the filters in place in front of the lens and Tiffen does make large format filters such as 3x3, 4x4, etc...

One of my favorite shots

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure The Dark Knight didn't use a DI. It did contain digital effects shots which were filmed out at 5.6k and 8k.
As to the topic at hand, I don't have a problem with the DI process. Used well it's good, used badly then it's bad - seems rather obvious.
I believe it went through DI for the IMAX prints.

Here is a photo I took that won me a photo contest and apparently recently an invitation to join the Laureates Society of Photographers: http://www.flickr.com/photos/8875206@N06/

Interesting film, kind of reminds me of a filmmaking style made by an old teacher of mine from San Francisco State Jon Moritsugu.

Bernie will do a great job. I highly recommend his laserbrighten process on the K3 as well.
You can also buy a re-centered mount for the K3 on eBay for about $125. I'd suggest picking that up if you want the lens re-centered. It would cost more to have someone else make it.
I got an email from Bernie and he said that it would cost me a lot to convert the K3 to Super 16 and is not something that he recommends doing.
-
Nevermind, I just realized that I could send the camera to Bernie at Super 16 inc.
-
I contacted Duall in NY and they said that they would modify my K3 to super 16 for $450 however they will not recenter the lens. Is there any company in the US that will do the re-centering as well as a mod to super 16?

I'd also would like to be an apprentice for Larry Fong, loved 300 and looking forward to Watchmen, and M David Mullen, loved his work on Northfork.

Can't remember, I think it was someone overseas. I believe if I remember correctly the person was from Japan.
Film or digital?

Again, as David stated, it depends on your level of experience and such. If you really want to shoot film, may I suggest getting a super 8 camera on ebay and experimenting with that. You can buy super 8 film directly from Kodak or places such as Spectra Film&Video, they will also develop your film and can transfer it to video. You can also get a K3 on ebay which is a 16mm camera for about $200 or less. So there are some options for you, it just depends on your budget and your level of experience.
