  3. Hi

Am a first ac from india, i have been working with super 35 format in my last two feature projects, we use a 235 ground glass and use a universal gate to record the whole negative and later adjust frame in the post when needed, am quite clear about this, but when we shoot adfilms which are meant only for television, we use the same universal gate and the ground glass depends on the director,we hav used fullgate,66 or 85 according to the purpose, my doubts start here.

1)Is the universal gate different for a normal 35 and super 35, since the super35 occupies sound area also?

    2)Is there separate 1:1.85, 1:1.66 groundglasses for super 35 and normal 35?

3)Is there a major difference betwen 1:1.85 and 235 in terms of aspect ratio?

4)Is the universal gate different for 3perf?

    5)what is univisium exactly?

It would be great if someone could clarify my doubts.

    Regards

  6. What do you mean by UV films? I don't think any film has been entirely been lit with UV fixtures, it's pretty impractical and potentially quite harmful.

    hai :)

sorry may be my usage of words were wrong,i meant to ask about anything and every thing about uv relating to cinematography and films

  7. :) hai guys

thanks a lot 4 sharing ur experiences and ideas on this issue,my question was general, its not about shooting 4 any project particularly,so there is no question of formats,my worry is am not able to think of too many schemes 4 night compared to day,it will be nice if u could suggest me some movies which has a lot of night effects

  9. hai :)

this may be a very simple or basic thing to post as a topic, but i need to know about the step by step process happening in a di from the beginning to end once the film is given for scanning, iam assisting a big dop in india and this is the first time iam working in project which is going for di completely,i would be happy to know everything about di process, waiting for replies

  10. I?d need to know more to be able to give much input. Does the area have lots of practical lighting like street lights, shop lights, and lit signs? Or is it dark and after hours. Do you plan on shooting in small areas or do you see a lot in your shots. Perhaps there are Steadicam shots through the town or 360 degree shots. Generally I?d try to rough in as much of the set as possible. Initially I?d think space lights for a general ambient fill, larger units at the ends of streets pointing back into the set, and lights inside the buildings. Wiring the practicals alone can be a huge job. If your money is tight practical lights like strings of bare bulbs can do a lot of the work.

    hai :)

thanks every one who had given me the inputs,as bob quoted we already had the idea of using space lights for the ambience,we will have a lot of steadicam shots and 360degree shots and the film is basically a musical subject where we want to give a fairy tale look to it just like moulinrouge or chicago and so i want to observe more films in that genre, i would be happy if anyone could give me the names of such films and also the kind of lighting pattern they have used in detail

  11. hai :)

iam from india and our next project is a huge one where we are going to create a set of a huge town inside a studio, the whole film is going to be shot only inside the sets and the entire film is night effect,in india we are not used in working with such huge sets,so i need suggstions about how i should go on with my lighting for the entire set and also need references of films with the same kind of setup, pls also let me know about what all kind of lights(tungsten)can be used to light up huge sets.we are planning to keep a low key look for the entire film , iam awaiting replies according to my above told needs
