  1. Yes, Film period does handle Highlight better. And as snow is almost pur white, it is very high contrast. The big difference is the Snow in video will just look really bright and washed out, compared to film that will look more natural.
  2. Also, I was not wanting $3 million dollars from just going out and making a movie. That was if I had a few name stars and a REALLY good story that people would want to see. Hell, if Studios will give $1 million to 3 kids that go out with a Hi8 camera andn act like a witch is chasing them, Then I know my film with Nice Dolly and crane moves, and tallented actors would have to get me somthing in return. I guess, But again, I dont know.
  3. P.S) I have Produced, Directed, 1st Assistant Directed and Production Co - Ordinated a lot of Plays for both school and the local theater group. I am no newbie to working with actors of ALL ages. young and old. I have also worked with large crews on the productions. I would say the hardest job I have had was 1st Assistant Directer on 3 plays. Which I was pretty much in charge of keeping everyone in line, and being sure things when smooth. On one of these Production, I had to keep 200 actors and crew members in line. Now that is an undertaking. (I did have a 2nd AD, and a 2nd 2nd AD also to help) The Directed was the easy job for me.
  4. I think people have it in there mind that if your 16, you CAN'T make a succesful feature. Well, I just wish people would Actually WAIT and see if a 16 y.o can or can't. What proof do you have a 16 y.o can't make a movie? No other 16 y.o have tried I don't think. Can;t we just wait and see what I can do? I'll post a Trailer when I'm done. And I'll send FREE DVD copies to anyone who wants them. I'll also have a Behind the scenes program so you can see how I make a film. So, we'll just see if Im setting myself up for a fall, or if Im actually Smarter than most of you think. Till Later guys, Landon
  5. Ok, I am going to try to explain anything here. As I know what you are offering is adivce, and after reading it all, It is some VERY good advice. But yet again, I thank you for you concerns that I can't handle it. But I can. I may not do it right, I may mess up all the time. Who knows until you try somthing? I may end up getting sued for $10,000,000.00. But you know what? The world could end tomorrow, I could get Cancer, I could die Tomorrow. But i'm not going to sit around and worry about it to the point where it scares me to live. Thats the way I see filmmaking. I am fearless in a way a lot of 6 y.o are not. And I am also one that once I get set on doing somthing, Not to many people can convince me otherwise. I understand you all just want to help. you know, I know where you coming from. I got many 16 y.o and 17 y.o friends. and 99% of them act like it. I just dont see the filmmaking process as being as hard as some people make it out to be. I guess I may have to learn the hard way, But learning the easy way is not always the best way. I may mess up a lot, but that will just add to the experiance later in life. If you play it safe till you big moment, then somthing goes wronge, How will you handle it because you have never had to deal with it before. Again, I don't look to be agreed with here. If you think I can't handle it, Fine. Maybee I can't, maybee I can. We will just have to see. did you try to make your film at 16? Or did you just say "I cant do it, so Im not going to"? you don't know the outcome to somthing until you do it. Also, I would never try to pull off a feature film with no crew. That is just setting yourself up for a fall. You CAN do some things, but you can't do everything. I think 16 years of life is enough experiance to Direct actors. What takes life experiance in it? You read the script, You plan the scene in your head, and you tell the actors how the scene plans out. And then you work with with them as much as possible to get it the way it works best. Now, if you want to sit around and talk about how your mom died when you where 9, and you got a girl knocked up at 14, and try to make everyone feel sorry for you, then yeah, life experiance may help. But I dont see bringing my personal life into the film. Ok, I think I'v explained the most important ones. But again, Im not here to tell you I know how its done. Im here to say, ok, look, This is how I see it. Now I may see it wronge, but that does not mean I'm trying to say I know it all. There is no right way to make a movie, nor is there a Wronge way. You make the movie the best you can, and hope it turns out ok in the end. No, Filmmaking is NOT easy by any means, And I understand this very well. But I just don't think its the hardest think I'v ever done. Please don't attak me, and tell me im wronge. I know I am not right on everything. And I'm not trying to be either. This is just the way I think a Film should be made. And I probably am not right at all. But we will just have to see if it works for me. Thanks for all the advice friends! I will keep it, and will use it.
  6. I agree Grimmett. I am sorry for coming over the top and being over agressive. I get that way when I don't get my way, usually. I will try to control my tempor next time. Thanks for the advice you all have given me so fare. I will take it and use it to the fullest :-) Thanks guys
  7. Ok, whats the chance of a 16 y.o getting a job on a Studio Picture? Even if he had made a feature and it did great with awsome reviews from Roger Ebert and got a 400 Theater theatrical release? (By that time he would be 17, if not 18 anyway)* I would say the studio would be concerned about the actual length they would be allowed on set, and the restrictions that also come with it. I dont know about CAL, But in Indiana a 16 y.o is allowed to work 11 hours day with a 1 hour break. Of course this don't apply when I'm making my own films. I can work 16 hours a day with no lunch if I want too.* Go figure? Don't get me wronge, I want to Direct the next 20 million dollar picture as much as the next guy.* But I'm not going to set myself up for a BIG downfall. Because the chances of me getting a Studio film by the age of 20 is Slim to none. Not imposible at all, just slim.* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ * = This is just my view of it. This is in no means meant as a "I know it all" Comment. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  8. Excuse me!?!?! I never said I knew it all. What I said was is this is the way my productions work. I am not saying I know everything. I NEVER said I did. When did I say I knew everything? I simply told you how I make a movie. That does not make me know it all, it explains how I make a movie. I am not here saying, "You guys don't know the right way". Im saying, this is my way. You way is fine, but this is my way. Is there a problem with me having my own way of making a film? If there is, then when did America become a comunist country? And I'm sorry for my writing skill, Hope this post reads better than the rest of them. Awsome. Thats fine. Wait! Now who was it that started this? It was not me. I simply told you what I thought of Warner Bros. and then all of a sudden everyone is attaking me for MY opinion on it. Not even in that post did I try to impose on you I knew everything. Go pick on the person that started the argument, Not me. I never intended that. Im not saying "Fu**" you to anyone in here. If thats how my spelling makes you feel, then I'm sorry. Again, when did I ever say I knew it all. NEVER in the forum have I acted like a know it all. I am simply offering my COMMENT. And you DON'T have to accept my comments if you don't want to. But I don't think I should be put down because you think I'm acting like I know it all. and I am I suppose to be? Remember, I did not start this argument. Nobody had to reply to my first post in the topic, but yet someone thought they had to. I was OFFERING my opinion, and someone always has to start trouble when someone has an opinion different from mine. I don't think that fair. And in the first place, How did this topic turn into "Landon is a know it all" instead of "Director and DP fired by Warner Bros."? Maybee everyone should quit putting me down and remember that this is not the topic to argue that I'm a Know it all. This is a topic about warner bros. Can't you just leave me alone? What did I do to deserve this? Was it that my opinion differed from everyone else? Well, then I don't know what to tell you. I posted it in here because I thought you wanted to hear comments on it.
  9. Thank you. I was getting a little carried away wasn't I? sorry. I have not read it, I will look into it. Thanks. Thank you for your help
  10. Here we go again with the age thing. why is this what people seem to get stuck on. well, you know what. Theres a first for everything. I may be 16. but I dont think that should be laughable. And also. Im not SURE of anything. Once I do somthing, then Im sure of it. What is it that I cant do that you can? > I can sign contracts (If I want to). > I know how to Direct Actors. > I can come up wth $500,000.00 > I can work 16 hours a day. > I can work on 3 hours sleep. > I HAVE a Vision. > I can work 7 days a week. > I can work in prinicple photography for 100 days Straight. > I can handle rejection. > I can write a screenplay. > I am reliable. I have not been late for a shoot yet. > People take me seriuose, all the actors I have worked with have so fare. > No one has laughed at me yet. Am I missing somthing here? IF so. I'll probably be able to add that too. So again, I will tell you the reason why no 16 y.o has made it before. Becuase they dont have money. Money is what will make you film, not you. If you have $500,000 then your set. ALL 99.999% of 16 y.o have access to is there allowance. and no one is willing to give them a loan That does not mean they cant do it, it means they dont have the money. I just so happen to be able to get that money. Which makes the differnece. I would like it to be treated like im just as capable as anyone else.
  11. Thank you. Are are very kind. Im going to just say this. I thank all of you for your comments on how I should and should not do it. However, IT seems to me that they way you are telling me is the way its "Suppose" to be done. I dont like that way. I like to be different. To do things different. The point I guess im trying to make is that my process works. It may not be perfect, but it works. It is tested and it does work. It may not be the right way, or the best way. But Followers never get anywhere either. I like my way, it allows me more freedom, it lets me improvise onset, have a lot of fun and such. If you not having a blast of fun on the set, then everyone else seems to have a bad day. You, as the director have to show your excitement in the project. that makes everyone else work harder. Or at least in my mind it does. I just dont find the regulare way to make films fun. you spend so much time planing the film that you get tired of it before you even start shooting. I dont like that feeling. I like it when everything is fresh and exciting. And when you can descide things on the spur of the moment. A well organized production is key, but a TO Organized production is BAD On making my film, I would settle what needed to be settle in pre-production. Such as Budget Breakdowns, Location Scouts, Crew hiring, Casting, Read through's, production design, Contracts, Equipment Rental. and maybee do some storyboarding of a scene in which you know you must have and that you run the risk of forgetting. Then you start filming, and you then you can fully say "That lighting looks good" or "That is the camera angel I want". I will also do some "Camera Angel" guides in pre-production. in which I will draw the room or location we will shoot and draw the movement I would LIKE for the camera. But I always understand that it may not turn out that way. I will for more chalenging location or location we dont have for very long sit down with the DP and craw a detail of how the WHOLE thing should look. Lighting, Camer Angel, Actor Location, ect... But that is only where needed. Thats My Process.... If it differs fromy ours, Im sorry. Its just the way I do it. Please, I thank you for your comments. But please, let me make the movie the way that works for me. I dont want to make anyone mad at me here. this is a nice foroum, I just want to do it my way.
  12. #1: I dont know they are. The casting Director I talked to told me once the film is funded, that its worth a try to send the screenplay to them. #2: SAG, So fare is treating me good. I have called them several time. they dont seem to care about my age, as long as someone 18 signs the contracts. Or they will let me sign them if I get Emancipated. #3: Lunch will be in the lunch room of Bloomington Center Studios and we will shoot there also. #4: I dont know, I have not met them yet :-) I'll keep you posted. I know what SAG's rules are. I have read there agreements more than once. but almost anybody you hear of it is a SAG member, and I may just have to live with SAG if I want my film to go anywhere. According to the Casting Director I talked to, he said that I had a better chance of getting bigger stars. He said Because 100% of my film is to be shot on Bluescreen, that gives them a flexible calender to come in when they can.
  13. You know, I do like you guys. And Im not trying to make you mad at me. I just wish I could make the movie they way I want. Thats one problem I had one time, the crew kept trying to tell me how to do everything. I told them kindly to let me run it, they did and it turned out fine. I dont want to make people mad at me, and I thank you all for your willingness to help me on whats wronge. But Im just going on what HAS worked for me. If Im not doing it right, please tell me how it should be done. I would welcome advice right now. Thanks
  14. Ok, I just read one post I skiped. I was not trying to come over that way, I was just saying HOW I make a movie, right or wronge, its tested and proven by me. Refer to my last post
  15. P>S) Im not interested in writing skills here, im interested in tellijng you what you want to hear so you can yell more at me. If im writing a report, yes, i'll watch my writing skills. But here, Im in to much of a hurry to type this so I can do more productive stuff. sorry for the caps. I was not yelling, I just fotgot to take them off I guess. are you my teacher?!? Why does it matter to you how I spell. Oh and P.S) I made an A- in Writing for your info, and I made it to the 10th grade. So, yes I know how to write very fine thank you. Why? Here goes the age thing again. I dont consider myself 16. I think im much more grown up than that. And I can take being dumped on, I just dont always agree with whats dumped on me.
  16. Ok, #1: Im not looking for Investments. #2: I did not post that for you to rate how I make films. do you wanna come work on my film set? and see how I make movies. I think you'll be surprised. Everyone does it different. Whats right for you maybee be way wronge for others. And it just so happends that this is the way I make a movie, like it or not. You know what? I may not be "Doing it right". But there is no right way, it works in all ways. and so fare it has worked just fine for me. I think that I have a pretty fast turnaround on my films also. However im doing it, It must be right in some way. I know a lot more than you think. I was not saying. "Just wait till you get there, then figure it out". I was saying that one should not plan EVERYTHING in advance. Not only does it not work, but it makes everyones job boring once on set. Planning EXACTLY how a shot will look in pre-production is not right. You can plan it just to get a basic idea of what you want, but I dont suggest saying... "Ok, this is where Joe will be, where gonna light over here and there should be enough light we dont need to lug the whole light kit around, lets just take a little to this location." You know, I think thats the problem with so many movies there days. Everything is so planned that Everyones job on set boring. in pre-production you have already planned were everyone will be, how they will act, how the lighting is, camera angels and such. now on set, what is the director suppose to do? Everything is already planned. Now his job is just to yell action and cut. That is why so many directors make one film every 7 years, becuase they are so tired of the same old process, just like Robert Rodrequez says. And I think he has some wise words that 70% of you should listen to. Again though, im not here to prove anything to you guys. Once my film is in theaters you will see how capable I am of making a great movie. #3: Yes, $3 milllion. I must say the process os fun, but lets get one thing straight, Directing is a "Job", and it makes money. And yes, I think if I had Johnny depp for one day and Antonio Banderas for 2 days and maybee a few other lesser know but equaly great actors for a few days, I think a studio would buy it for $3 million or more. Johnny depp sells tickets. I can promise you that once a studio see's hes in a movie they would be beating my door down. same with a lot of other actors. Can you imagin a Johnny Depp movie not getting a Distrobution deal!?!?!?!?! lol. and a Wide one for that. Now, again, like this or not, it is my movie. I will run it how I feel free to. This is how I run it, and I think everyone should just accept my way as just one of the other 5,000 ways someone makes a movie. Im not here for you to tell me how terrible I am, or how Im crazy or dont know what Im talking about. Maybee I think you process is Crazy? ever thought of that? Ok. So im not answering anymore if all people can post is how im doing it wronge, there is more productive things in life.
  17. IM ONLY INTERESTED IF THE STUDIO WANTS TO BUY THE FILM. IM NOT INTERESTED IN THERE DEAL IF THEY JUST WANT THE RIGHTS TO DISTRIBUTE IT. LOOK AT THE BLAIR WHITCH PROJECT. IT WAS SOLD FOR $1 MILLION, THEY MADE IT FOR 30,000... SEEMS LIKE A GOOD PAYOFF TO ME. IF I MADE A FILM THAT HAD AT LEAST 2 OR 3 MAJOR STARS ATTACHED TO IT IN ANYWAY, EVEN JUST AS ONE DAY CAMEOS. THE MINIMUM I WOULD ACCEPT FOR THE PAYOUT WOULD BE $3 MILLION. ANYTHING LESS AND THEY CAN GO FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO CHEAT. I HAVE WATCHED MAKING OF;S TO ABOUT 50 FILMS SO FARE. AND SOME DO STORYBOARD IN PREPRODUCTION. BUT I DONT USE STORYBOARDS. YOU CANT JUST IMAGINE HOW IT WILL LOOK, AND THEN JUST TELL YTHE DP THAT IF HE DOES NOT GET THAT PERFECTLY, HES FIRED. I WOULD WAIT TILL I WAS SHOOTING IT. THEN SAY, OK THAT LIGHTING LOOKS GOOD, OR OK, JOHN (ACTOR) YOUR STADNING IN A GOOD SPOT. SOME THINGS SHOULD BE SORTED OUT IN PRE-PRODUCTION, BUT I DONT THINK YOU SHOULD MAKE THE FINAL DETAILS OF HOW THE FILM SHOULD LOOK WITHOUT KNOWING HOW IT PLAYS OUT IN REAL LIFE. I GUESS IM JUST NOT HOLLYWOOD MATERIAL.
  18. OK, SO ,MAYBEE I WAS A LITTLE SARCASTIC IN THAT POST, IM SORRY. BUT I WAS SO PISSED WHEN I WROTE IT, THAT WAS WHAT MADE SENCE AT THE TIME. FORGET A SAID IT. I WAS JUST USING MIRAMAX AS AN EXAMPLE. I STILL DONT LIKE MOST ANY OF THERE FILMS, BUT AGAIN, THEY ARE HOLLYWOOD, THEY CAN DO WHAT THEY WANT. AS LONG AS THEY DONT TRY TO TAKE OVER MY FILM THERE FINE WITH ME. AND I WAS REFERING THAT I WOULD NOT LIKE TO MAKE A FILM FOR THEM, I WILL SELL THEM A FILM IF THEY WANT IT THOUGH. THEY MAY BE AN INDIES BEST DREAM. IF SO, THEN GREAT. IM COOLED DOWN NOW. HOLLYWOOD CAN FIRE ANYONE IT WANTS TO. ITS NOT MY FILM, SO THATS OK. IM NOT MAD AT MIRAMAX, I WAS MAD AT WARNER FOR FIRING A DIRECTOR. AS IF THE JOB IS NOT HARD ENOUGH, THEY HAVE TO GO AND TEAR UP PEOPLE CAREERS JUST BECUSE THEY DONT LIKE SOMTHING. IF IT WAS ME, I WOULD NOT HIRE SOMEONE IF I WAS GOING TO FIRE THEM. IF I HIRED THEM, IM NOT ABOUT TO TELL SOMEONE TO TAKE A HIKE AFTER ALL THE HARD WORK IT TAKES TO EVEN GET TO PRINCIPLE PHOTOGRAPHY. I JUST THINK THEY COULD HAVE FOUND SOMEWAY AROUND FIRING THEM. THEY FIND WAYS AROUND EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE INDUSTRY. BUT STILL, I THINK FIRING SOMEONE OVER TAKING TO MUCH TIME WITH HOW THE FILM LOOKED IS THE MOST STUPID THING I HAVE HEARD OF. BIT FOR HOLLYWOOD, IT DONT SURPRISE ME. AND I ALSO DONT THINK THE CAST SHOULD HAVE ANY SAY IN THE FILM. THEY ARE HIRED TO ACT IN THE FILM, IF THEY DONT LIKE IT. THEY CAN QUIT. OR NOT HAVE TAKEN IT IN THE FIRST PLACE. IM NOT SURE WHERE YOUR ALL FROM, BUT IM FROM AMERICA. AND IM INTITLED TO FREE SPEACH. AND THIS IS HOW I SEE IT. I AM NOT TRYING TO MAKE ANYONE TAKE MY OPINIONS, THAT IS UP TO YOU. BUT I BELEIVE THIS WAS ORIGIONALY POSTED FOR COMMENTS, AND I HAVE GIVEN MINE. MAYBEE I SHOULD NOT COMMENT BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSE MAY DISAGREE WITH ME.?!?!?! THEN IT APPEARS EVERYONE IS ON THE STUDIOS SIDE HERE. IM NOT. SORRY FOR GETTING OUT OF HAND IN THE ABOVE POST. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN WHAT I ORIGIONALY POSTED, NOT THAT. AGAIN, SORRY. NOT FUN? WHY IN GODS GREEN EARTHE WOULD YOU MAKE THEM THEN? YOU HAVE A BETTER CHANCE IN THE LAW INDUSTRY. WHY BECOME A DIRECTOR IF ITS NOT FUN? MAKES NO SINCE TO ME. I AGREE THAT IT IS TECHNICALLY A JOB, BUT IN MY OPINION, THE ART AND FUN SHOULD COME FIRST. IF YOU APPROACH FILMMAKING AS JUST A FUN JOB, THEN I THINK YOU'LL MAKE IT FARE IN THE INDUSTRY. TALENTED PEOPLE WHO APPROACH IT AS A FUN ACTIVITY (ME) USUALLY GET THROWN OUT OF THE DOOR BECUSE THEY CARE TO MUCH ABOUT THE FILM, AND NOT ENOUGH ABOUT THE STUDIOS "INTEREST" IN THE FILM. AGAIN, THESE ARE MY OPINIONS, I DONT EXPECT ANYONE TO AGREE WITH ME.
  19. Cory: Nice advice, and I see where your coming from. I can roll out a feature. No matter how "Weird" or "Crazy" it sounds, Im not the only one to have done it. We will just see when my film is in theaters around the nation, or does not make it off the shelf. Then is the time to judge what I can and can't do. Again, don't judge a book by its cover. Age has nothing to do with ANYTHING. Nor does Experiance. If 300 other Directors can walk on to a film set without a lot of experiance, so can I. And, #1: Im not in school #2: The minute I go to Direct the film I'll quit my current job. I know. I have not started looking yet, but I will once I am sure the Production is funded. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ And no, Im not a think that one should take baby steps. even a baby can walk if it tries hard enough. The question is this: How quick can one LEARN to walk. In my opinion, I have already had propert production experiance to walk onto a set and say I know what Im doing. For example: Taking baby steps (The Job way): Step 1: Production Assistant Step 2: Assistant Editor Step 3: 2nd Assistant Camera Step 4: Assistant Camera Step 5: Director of Photography Step 6: Then, if your lucky, Director. Maybee 10 years after you started. Taking Baby Steps (The Do it way): Step 1: Make No budget hi8 short Step 2: Make another one Step 3: Make yet another one Step 4: Graduate to Making a 30-40min mini-feature Step 5: Make your first DV "Feature". Requires maybee $10 - 20k Step 6: Make a second DV "Feature". Requires same or more as above. Step 7: Make a S16 feature. Requires maybee $20 - 50k Step 8: Finally, you can either make your first real HD or 35mm feature. Or PRAY to god someone will hire you to direct the film. Do it yourself will require $200,000 - 1million OR Taking big step: Step 1: Make a Mini-Feature for nothing. Step 1.5: If you want, for the added experiance, make another one. Step 2: Make Hd or 35mm Film for $200,000.00 and hope that someone likes it. Hope that it gets a Distrobution deal. If you do, then your Career as a Director is set in maybee 3-9 months instead of 10-20 years. And if it bombs, try again. At ;least youll have the experiance of a large feature under your belt and know what you did wronge and be able to correct it next time. (Its also cheaper than the 2nd way) Of course, this does require a LOT of money. If you dont have the money, then this step will not work. In which case you must use Process 1 or 2. Personally, I like the last process better. Just my Opinion.
  20. Well, I am currently in Production of a feature before this feature. It is also for Communty access TV. It will be my "First" feature. I have no money rapped up in this project, and I intend to get local cast and crew from the Film School for free. The house where its taking place is being donated to me for 3 weeks from a local real estate agent. So, no, Im not jumping headlong into a $400,000 feature withoutb ever even being on a movie set before. I would not take that risk with anyones money, especially mine. Yeah, I sorta figured that but still, I wanted to make myself fully heard. Really? that would be nice. But Im not in this industry to make awards and have my name wamped all over hollywood. Im in it because I love making movies. Although, I will admit that the Hype sure is fun. I dont doubt that. However, I would prefer to skip the festval route. to do this, there would have to be some interest in the film. That is why I budgeted for a Known name actors and two to apper in the film so that studios would have somthing market it with. I'd think $100,000.00 would get me a one if not a few known actors to play small roles in the film. just enough that I can Place there name on the project. As I intend to do. There is no way I would invest 400k in a film with no one along side me who knew what they where doing. Ahhh, Yes and no. I like him for his braveary, but I'm really in doubt that he is my model. Im more of a person to follow in the footsteps of Chris Columbus. Hes the man :-) But as fare as being brave, and having the nerve to try new stuff, rob is awsome. Exactly. I budgeted $60k in for the crew alone. then $100k for the cast and so on. I really wanted to get Peter Biagi as DP. I really think he did a wonderful job on Stolen summer. However, I dont know what my chances are on there. And no, Im not a "one man can do it all" person. I would act as Executive Producer / Director / Editor and Writer. All other fields are being taken over by someone else.
  21. THIS POST WAS EDITED FOR CONTENT. I GOT TO OUT OF HAND WITH MY LAST COMMENT. HERE IS MY UPDATED COMMENT: I WAS JUST USING MIRAMAX AS AN EXAMPLE.
  22. After watching the disk 2 ep 6 of project greenlight. they say it as below: AD - Roll sound please Sound - Rolling Sound - Scene 35, take * Sound - We got speed Camera - Rolling Clapper - Marker AD - Stand by Director - Action Director - Cut I usually just: AD - Stand by AD - Turn Over Cameraman - Rolling Clapper - scene # take # (Clap) Director - Action Director - Cut AD - Check Gate (If film) I dont need a "Roll sound" Or anything like that,as the sound guy rolls sound automatically @ the "Stand by" mark. or if Im doing DV, then there is no "Roll sound" as the sound rolls when the tape does. It all depends on how you want it to sound. there is no right way to say these things. You, as the director need to make clear how the production should work. like what will be said, by who and what will happen when it is said. Thats my advice.
  23. Im no wizard, iv never shot HD before. Nor have a claimed to. I am just saying that I have seen NICE films that look exactly like Film but where shot on HD. Take Once upon a time in mexico, I though it was nice looking. Didnt look like any evening news program to me as a lot of HD haters seem to think.
  24. I am a Computer Programmer. I am currently working on a Program that I intend to put into retail market. With this, I estimate an Income of $400,000.00 - $600,000.00. This is the funds I intend to use. And why is it so Creazy for a 16 y.o to make a feature? Im just as capable as any other 20, 30, 40 year old.... I know LOTS of 16 y.o that have made features. None have ever made it anywhere to my knowlege. This is only because they lack the knowlege and Capability to deliver the final product. I dont. Some wont agree, But I do. I alread have a screenplay, and have a few producers interested in coming onto the project. I intend to stay on as Executive Producer though. Due to my age, I intend to let the business side be handled by the Line producer, UPM, and the like. as I cannot sign contracts, rent equipment, ect. I have considered Emancipation to help me make this feature. That would allow me to enter into the contracts myself, and to rent the equipment. But I would just asoon hire someone to take care of that. P>S) Shooting a film DOES NOT require experiance, It requires a talen and a will. If you have that, you have your film. You just gotta get it off the table. The only way to ever learn to make a film is if you do it. And going out with a Hi8 Video cameras and a crew of 2, and maybee 3 actors, is NOT going to teach you how to make a movie. Besides, I'v already done enough of that kind of stuff. Im still as dumb to the filmmaking process as a was before I ever started. The only way to learn to run a BIG production, is to run a big Production. I intend hire talented people along side me, to help out where needed. I am a hard working 16, I work full time and also balance my Programming to where I have very little time for anything else. I am no stranger to hard work. Remember, NEVER underestimate somthing or someone you know nothing about. they can do AMAZING things. For all you know I may be related to Bill gates and have all the money I need. You see, you dont know. So dont judge before you know the whole story. In my opinion, the best part of filmmaking is working with a crew and cast. And on a small Hi8 shoot, you hardly ever have any of the like. I dont mean to sound mean, But still. I think you could have choose better words than "Crazy". I do not consider myself crazy at all by the way. I understand you meant it as some helpng advice, I just dont take to kindly to being called "Crazy". I have followed Project greenlight enough to know the basics of the process, and how it works. And I have also read at least 20 books on filmmaking. Im not stranger to making I film. I know how its done, I just need to get out and do it. Im sure with that budget, I could get a few Cameros and small parts by name stars at least. I dont think that would be enough for retaining a name the for the whole production. So, continue to call me crazy all you want, but I will pull through on this. What is so special about s16? I have shot 16 before, never s16. However, It is no different to shoot it. And there is NOTHING special about HD either, or 35mm for that matter. I think im making since, does ANYONE else here NOT agree with me?!?! If so, Im interested to find out who and why. I'll stop now before I say somthing I that I dont want too and get more people mad at me. Later dudes. ***For security reasons, I cannot give out contact info of ANYONE currently involved or soon to be involved in the Production.***
