Hello everyone!
I am hunting some cheap 16mm stock and I found this site: http://filmemporium.com
The prices for the recans, short ends and factory stock seems VERY cheap.
Whats the catch? Since Im a newbie could someone tell me what recans and short ends are and why it is so cheap.
Thank you very much!
Edit: oh sorry, I posted in the 16mm part when I should have posted in Film and processing. So sorry.

Sorry I may be totally wrong about filing down the shutter but thats how my photographer friend told me.
On my super8 camera I made a mold of the gate in plastic to make it super-duper8 and it works fine. Thats why I assumed I could do the same with a 16mm camera but as Matt did (bought a secong gate just in case) would result in the same as the mold but better.

Im planning on doing the conversion myself when I get my hands on a bolex.
I would do like this on Ultra 16: make a mold of the gate and make it in a tough plastic, file out the gate and keep the old gate under my pillow.
I rather want to convert it to S-16 but Im not that rich to make someone else convert it :(
But I've heard that the shutter also needs to be filed a bit and some gears must be changed, that means one fault and your camera is gone.
Anyway If someone should try converting to Ultra-16 you could try my mold idea, then you can always change back to the old gate. :)

Thats some great info ina such short time!
You guys are great!
Yeah "jlamarking" maybe it's a bit too distorted but it's on the right way, I'll have to check it out, thanks ;)
The valve mics sounds like right stuff "Olly" :)
I forgot to mention that I was planning to use it on location but maybe it can be done, thanks so much for your help everyone!

Thanks a lot Matt!
I thought it had something to do with the optical track, I guess they had very directional mics because the sound is either extremely low or extremely high.
Btw. can you name a specific type of ribbon mic (a brand or type) 'cause the tube mics seems very expensive.
Thanks again!

Hello everybody!
I m very fascinated by the sound of movies from the 1950s to 1970s.
The speech especially sound very distinct and contrasty (if one can describe it as that).
I really want to know what kind of microphones/ equipment they used to get that sort of sound.
Thank you in advance // Anton Foy

Hello everyone!
Im new here and I have just bought my first Super-8 camera (Canon 310XL...maybe it sucks but it's a start).
I would like to know if anyone can recommend a Super 8 camera that get's the sharpest picture quality.
I have heard some who says that Canon 1014 has very good optics that will get a great sharp picture quality.
Will 24 fps give a sharper quality than 18 fps or will a faster shutter-speed?
Well, thank you in advance, I'll be very happy for any answers :)
