  1. i was recently watching minority report. i noticed flares or lens aberations covering most of the frame. they are vertical and occur during fight between cruise and colin farrell, when they are on a gantry above a robotic car factory. it reminds me of some of the work done on saving private ryan. curious what the effect is that he employed.

  2. Gentlemen,

i am traveling to Israel for a small doc. shoot. i am using the joker bugs and the hvx200. i am curious about traveling with gear and possible unknown factors. my lights are in anvil cases, camera is in a pelican case and i have taken care of the carnet for customs. my expendables and a.c. kit are going in a portabrace. i have never worked overseas, so i have never travelled wth gear before. does anyone have any "beware of this or else" type advice?

  3. sight unseen, i am contemplating renting or buying a basic microdolly kit. i am travelling for a month on planes, trains and automobiles. is this thing going to hold to basic use and also travel. it will only be holding a hdv video camera, so not much. any feedback on this dubious dolly would be appreciated.

  4. i am shooting on the hvx200 from a helicopter. yeah, i know that sentence makes me laugh, but it is true. i have not shot from a helicopter and i do not know where to begin in regards to rigging and camera/crew safety. pls. advise.

  5. i am shooting a documentary very soon. because of budgetary issues the HVX has been presented as an option. i have heard of losing takes due to a dropout issue with the P2 cards. obviously if i lose even one take it could be disastrous. is this operator error or inherent to the P2 card/P2 storage system? i have used the camera, but haven't experienced these issues. let me know what you think.

  6. Hello. I am shooting a documentary in israel, russia and the u.s. for versatility i have chosen a joker bug 3 light kit ranging from 200w-800w lights. i know that israel uses 220v at 50 hertz and russia is 220v at 60 hertz. is this lighting package a good idea in light of this variation between israel, russia and the u.s.? what do i do to use this light kit overseas or is it not feasible. is there a good web-site that discusses all of these issues?
