  1. I've been reading about alot of cameras and when they refer to the lens it will say something like....7-56mm f1.4 Macro. What does this mean. I tried to find it in the Malkiewicz book but I havent seen a good explanation. Thanks!
  2. Thanks, I was surprised to see the 18fps line since I looked yesterday and it was not there then. Are you saying it only has the one frame rate? Thanks Jim
  3. Thanks for acknowledging the existence of my question. I was beginning to worry. I tried Super8Wiki and they had like 3 bits of info that dont help me too much being a novice. Lens: / 11 - 33 mm 18fps Manual / Auto Zoom Cable release socket Auto Recording Level Control Sound Camera 6 X AA batteries Aren't all sound cameras equipped for 24fps? And I guess that lens isn't too spectacular either. Does anyone have that Juergen guy's camera book that could look this one up? Thanks again
  4. I guess that since this was a sound recording model it must have 24fps...doh!
  5. Wow, this must be an obscure one. I can't find hardly anything on the net either. I know soundfilm is obsolete so I hope this can use readily available cartridges. I wondered if anyone knew what fps settings this has. For some reason I am fearful that it is only 18fps. Thanks for anything Jim
  6. Can someone fill me in on the features and capabilities of the Bell & Howell 1222 Soundstar PZ? Thanks.
  7. I'm real new to this so forgive this primitive question. I am beginning to understand that you film silent with a camera that can be connected to some sort of recording device in order to synchronize the sound with the picture. So then you end up with a bunch of picture film and another bunch of sound on either tape or some digital media. What is the process of getting from this to the Final product which I assume is a film with a magnetic sound strip containing the soundtrack that can be played through a sound projector. I also assume that the final merging of the sound to the finished product occurs after the film has been edited into it's final configuration. Is this right? Thanks Jim
  8. thanks for the info. I've heard that the Canon 814 xl-s is very similar to the 1014 except for the zoom and a few "not critical" features. Do you think the interchangeable lens capability of the Beaulieus make them a better option than the fixed lens Canons? I've heard the Beaulieus may be more prone to break down and costly to repair. You mentioned a Nikon and Leicina. Most of the "buzz" I'm reading refers to the Canons and Beaulieus so I'd assumed they were more or less the best products. Thanks JIM
  9. Thanks for your response- Ive been reading good things about the Canon 814 xl-s. My understanding is that the 1014 has the extra zoom to 10x instead of 8x and a few extras that are nice but not critical. I also read that it is extremely quiet. Is the 814xl-s sync sound capable.
  10. Thanks, Im kind of new to these forums, how do I look up that "thread"
  11. What is a good Super8 Camera that can produce short films in b&w and color? What kinds of things can you do with a standard package as far as techniques/effects. What about recording and merging sound with the footage? Thanks.
  12. Sorry to barge in here, but is a 10:1 ratio the "norm" for producing a pic in S8 too?
