  1. I am starting to shoot super 16. I was reading up on the arri 416 and it said that its' mirror shutter can be adjusted from 45 to 180 degrees. What does adjusting your mirror shutter achieve in a shot? faster shutter speeds? what is the standard angle to shoot at? can you do it on a SR3?
  2. tks, I will research into that program a bit deeper.
  3. I have shot a bit of time tapse in the past with a 16mm bolex camera, a watch, and hours of my time. This of course was before I found out there was a intervelometer attachment tfor this camera. I also own a Nikon D80 that I want to conect with my mac and do automted timelapse for extended periods of time. The only problem is that a lot of the software availble to do the dosen't recognize Digital SLRs or sometimes will recognize one brand but not the other. Does anyone know a type of software that will work with a Nikon to do timelapse?
  4. I am shooting a stop motion film on a Nikon D80 that will be finished on 35mm film with optical sound. Where can i have that process done. I heard there was a place in texas for about $450.00US per minute. Is there anywhere else that can compete with that price? Does anyone have a link to a site?
  5. I am shooting my next film digitally. I shoot stop-motion and am using a Nikon D80. The live action sequences are going to be shot with a panasonic HVX 200. My res on the stop-motion sequences is 1920X1080. Does the HVX 200 shoot this res at a true 24fps? This is important because I am finishing on 35mm film.
  6. GREAT IDEA. You just saved me a $150.00. Thanks a lot.
  7. Thanks for the tips David. I have read about this in books, but now it is starting to stick. Can't wait to shoot colour.
  8. I think I will rent the cam for a day and test test TEST. I can change the varibles in as many ways as I can think of until I reach a result that matches the look I have in my head. Thanks guys....
  9. I don't want to sound like a newbe, but i kind of am. What does cross post mean? Is it like cross processing? I am shooting my next film on super 16mm with an arri SR3 most likely and am curious on what stock to shoot with. Half of the film is going to be in black and white, and the other half in colour. I have never shot colour motion film, and don't have a clue what stock to choose. Most of the colour film will be shot outside, but there will be some interiors as well. I want to shoot the interiors with low light to increase my depth of field. Is there a website that can further my education on shooting motion film? Or a book perhaps?
  10. Is there a website that compares the unique look each different stock has to offer? MAybe with comparison sample stills of what the film looks like after proccessing? If so could someone send me a link. Thanks.

  13. thanks David, I will keep that in mind. I have a bit more research to do if I start shooting HD.
  14. I have always shot my projects on film and then finished on film, or digital beta. Now with hdv on the market I want to buy a camera that shoot hd, but still want to be able to finish on film. Do I have to buy a camera that shoots 24fps progressive, or can it shoot just plain old 24fps("cine like")? Is there a difference? What hdv camera should I buy?
