  1. Hello friends!

I use my Pan HDX900 for films and doc's.Lately I had a problem during shooting. The ND filter knob does not change the filters although on the viewfinder I see the numbers change.First I thought it was a mechanical problem;the knob was not tightened with the axes. But no remedy. It seems as if the ND filters change electronically.Unfortunately the filter selector has stopped probably to the ND4,so the camera has lost the sensitivity, being unable to shoot in low lights. It looks like I'm shooting with a low speed film, maybe 100 ASA.

Can anybody give me any suggestion on how to remedy in this.

    Thanks

    Goshi

Panasonic became aware of this problem, it is not electronic, it is a problem with the filter wheel turning - in your case the ND filters inside the camera, the outside ND selector turns but has lost contact with the internal filters ( the camera still gets the signal on which filter you have selected from the outside dial electronically! ) Panasonic replaced the dial when this happened to my HDX900. The work was done at a Panasonic service center in LA.

  2. Does anyone here know anything good or bad about this stock?

I have this stock thats been in the freezer for 7 years.

I can't find any history on this 500T.

Got this years ago for my Eclair NPR.

On the silver kodak can reads:

  4. I think the problem might be that the Canon len's has a crossover for use on cameras that have the option to shoot 4x3 or 16x9, if I remember the last Canon lens I used with the crossover had a small dial that said

16x9-4x3 to use this function and how it worked was when you were in the 4x3 mode on a 16x9 camera, you could dial in the crossover to give you the 20% you lose on your wide end on the camera in the 4x3 mode! but if you went back to 16x9 mode on the camera and you did not set the crossover back to 16x9 on the dial you would get the vignette in lens from the crossover bieing on for the 4x3 setting.

    I hope this helps

So if you are shooting with a none widescreen betacam camera (4x3) and have a crossover lens for dealing with the 20% loss on the wide with a widescreen camera shooting 4x3, leave the crossover off! or the doubler crossover will vignette your lens on your 4x3 only betacam.

I think that what I wanted to say

  5. It doubles the focal length of the lens, with a loss of light however.

Also, this lens I was using wasn't cheaply constructed. I've used Canon 4.5s plenty with no problem. And this was the same type of lens. Anyone have an idea of what the problem is?

  6. A Betacam SP version - the digital camera head of the DVW 700 recording onto SP. I've only used one a few times always shooting on 4x3 - I didn't realise you had an option of 16:9.

Remember being able to buy 4 x 3 only DVW 700s at that time.

The way to tell if your Sony camera has 16x9 chips is in the model number it will end WS, (wide screen)

    Sony DXC D30WS

    Sony DXC D35WS

    Sony DXC D50WS

    Sony BVW D600WS

    Sony DVW 700WS

  7. The UVW 100 is basicly a one piece betacam sp camera, the guts block and chips are the same as a Sony D30 DXC camera, so it's a later model than the 507 two piece camera which is like a Sony BVW400 betacam sp camera head with a dockable 5 back, this camera is a tank! FIT chips, UVW 100 has IT chips, and is a lot lighter on the shoulder! also the 507 with the 5 back has two extra audio channels when you use sp tape, the UVW only two. Both these cameras make good pictures if set up right! the older 507 may have some bad caps or transport problems (age) I would go with the UVW100, but be sure to check out all operations on the camera are working, and you are getting a good recorded picture and sound.

The UVW 100 may have the option to shoot 16x9 and 4x3 you will have to check out the specs!

The UVW is a 1/2 inch image sensor, and the 507 is 2/3 inch image sensor.

So you will find some nicer lenes for the 2/3, 507.

  8. I'm trying to recall the shoots I used it on; one was for Ford - they were making engine computers. I don't remember using anything but maybe walking a Lowel soft or something. Pretty well lit facility. I think the other was J&J and maybe the same story.

I'd guess ~ equivalent to EI 160 maybe ? Do NOT hold me to this B)

  9. you wouldn't be white balancing with the warming filter on the camera would you?

How about your monitor set up!

    A. Is your monitor set up to your cameras color bars.

    B. Is your input into your monitor BNC connected to the in, and not the out. If this happens and it does you will get a horrible pale flat washed out picture, where if it is correct and put to the in on the monitor, the picture looks true to what the camera and matrix is recording (if the camera and the monitor are set up to the color bars)

    C. Is your monitor terminated

    D. You may have a bad capacitor ( leaky cap) and this could be on one of you cameras internal boards, it has happened to a few SDX900 that I know of (rental house cameras, older ones)
