Hi Pascal,
It looks like it could be a source 4 and it is definitely bounced of some silver foam core as a backlight.
I also know from reading the AC mag edition, that had Perfume in it, that they used a chinese lantern on a stick for other CU's.
Do you remember wich number of the Ac was it?
Thank you for the replies , the source 4 is pointed to the silver core , isn't ? Also , can the keylight be a barger light ?
-
Hello everybody,
i bought recently the collector edition of perfume and i captured these frames from the making of, i recommand it , very interesting.
I heard that the dop loves the barger lights so i guess that the keylight is one, but what about the leko, can it be a joker bug with a "bug a beam " ?
What kind of reflector is that , a silver one ?
I wasn't able to upload it so here are the links :

Hello Jesse,
I like these shots a lot, they have a 70's feeling, can you tell us more about your lighting package ? How did you lit the third and fourth image you added ? I like the hard light on the third picture a lot, did you use a chimera ?
thank you :)

Hi,
I like this video a lot ! The image as a lot of emotions. I bet you had a good time making the frozen moments : ) I have some questions Did you only used the rifa to produce the soft light on the singer or also a 5k bounced ? The 5k in the background is pointed to the wall or hitting directly the actors and camera ? Did you use smoque on set ?
Thank you very much

This video was posted here before. You could save a lot of time searching for the pin by not removing the core adapter.
I agree : )

Hello Matt,
i absolutely love the first frame ! Which camera did you use ? Did you shoot with the tiffen filter "fog" ,or did you achieved that on post?
cheers

BTW - that wide is taken in Montmartre, Paris isn't it?
Correct ;) , so if i understood i can light freely and should put the key high . What exactly did you meant with :
"I would try to pick out that wonderful nose she has by being just slightly off angle to get the shape ."
No frontal lightning ?
What is the best way to enhance her hair ? Direct fresnel light ? Readhead with chimera ? Or a fresnel bounced & another one direct?
Thank you for all these advices !!
-
Thanks , my concern is her chickbones can i light fom above ?
-
Thank you for these advices ! I appreciate.

Hello ,
can you give me some advices for lighting this actor face? I am looking for a flattering and glamorous feeling. Where should the key light come from ? I'll be using classic soft for diffusion .

what do the pro's have to say ? ;)

"Yeah, you need to get some wider shots of the location to really help"
unfortunately ,i don't have ,here's another one : http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l140/Pas...rt/IMG_0007.jpg
the wider one is the pic taken at night
-
Yeah, you need to get some wider shots of the location to really help.
As for the color, I wouldn't go for using filters, if you get it wrong, there is really no way to go back and shoot unless you want to reshoot but that is more time and money. I would just light everything the same and get it exactly how you want it to look minus the hue and just touch that up in post. It will be a lot easier and it will save a lot of time, money and frustrations :) .
Hi ,
i want to use coral filters are they gonna cause problems ? I heard that they are good for the skintones
-
I dont know of a scissor lift that goes to 4 stories!
You need a bucket lift, or some close variants...bear in mind you need someone certified to rent and operate these!
BTW, I don't think you will get stylized drama looks with an all white room, using daylight.
Hi,
what did you had in mind ? I will have a blackjack, 4 bank kinoflo, 1,5 par , fresnels and a couple of redheads , also some mirrors and chimera's gobos. We will use another lift, i 've attached a pic.
cheers

Hello from beautiful France,
i'm shooting a short in september and i have a problem with a location ; the light is not beautiful
there and the actor will be moving a lot in front of these windows. Also all the walls are white and
there's going to be no decoration because the house is supposed to be empty ! I've added some pics on photobucket. The location is in a building at the 4 th floor and is kind of small. For the white walls mayby the neutral grad soft would help me also ,i was thinking using a scissor lift with a 1,5 HMI par on it and kinos or a black jack inside. Should i use contrasts filters in
order to have better results when filming the window ? We are going for a drama kind of look and i want to get a stylisized image. I will have classic softs , and tropic blue for more dramatic moments. There going to be some flashbacks where the image should be more like warm memories(shooting exteriors and interiors), i was thinking tobacco but i heard they are strong,so mayby coral filters. I forgot to mention we have a smoke machine and there's going to be a video to film transfert , should i overexpose a bit ? I attached a paint document representing the location :
-the blue square is the HMI par on the scissor lift
-the black square is the Blackjack
-the "x" are the talent positions
the circles represent the windows . Here are the links : http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l140/Pas...rt/IMG_0006.jpg , http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l140/Pas...rt/DSC02210.jpg
Thank you for your help :)

Hi All,
I'm shooting a graduation film on the Panasonic HVX 200 shooting to P2 cards. I'm going to use the Cine setting and want to give the film quite a fashion photography look. Inspiration has so far come from photographs in Vogue and other fashion magazines. Most scenes happen outside with quite a summery carefree feel to them. I have attached a photograph to give an idea of the desired look.
The director wants to use wide angle lens but retain lowish depth of field. Ie he wants blurry backgrounds. I figure I'll need to shoot with a fair amount of ND and keep the focused subject close.
I know another more preferable option would be a prime lens adapter which we are considering but some work will include using a glide cam and I am concerned that it would create too much weight.
The main question I wanted to ask was advice on filtration. I was thinking in addition to ND using something like a black pro mist to give a softer image. Or perhaps a net of some sort, I'd like to create a kind of dreamy image and if possible increase the chance of creating lens flare. Still early days so I have chance to do tests but I was just wondering if anyone could suggest any interesting techniques they know about which I could use to give my images a bit more oomph!!
Many thanks,

Hello Jessica ,
i'm not sure the image you attached is very usefull ... anyway have you thinked about using white promist or warm promist ? I think they will help you achieve this dreamy look or mayby the filter "fog" but this is more out of focus "david lynch" dreamy . Also for the flares ,post production might help .
good luck
-
I will certainly look into schools in the UK.
Thank you very much for the reply.
Hi ,
Privates school in Paris like Eicar aren't very good but they are expansive (6500 euros per year) ,i've hear " 3 i s" is the best private school. You can try Louis lumiere(good for cinematography) or the femis (more for directors) but you need to pass a very difficult test and exams in order to get inside ... really difficult !
I would go to the uk , lodz or to belgium if i where you.
bye bye

Idziak is a notorious filter user. He's even got his own sets specially made for him. And he uses elaborate color grad's in inventive ways - even indoors. He also clips out little pieces of colored gels that he attaches to fish nets and lights through, creating interesting and broken up colored patterns etc. H'e very inventive and many of Black Hawk Down's nights scenes and interiors shows off his eclectic style.
Hi ,
Thanks for the information! i saw it recently ,beautiful .I also felt that the image was filtered but what about bleach bypass ? Did he used any ?How do you manage to make such of a contrasted, dramatic image in day exteriors ,i know they use black fill or is it in post production ?
