  1. Hi Bob,

There has been one on e-bay with '400 mag, 2 lenses, and constant speed motor. It was buy it now $1800, dropped from $2200. What sort of lenses do you have? I'm in the market for a 35mm mos camera. Is yours ready to go?

    Erik

    Hi Eric,

Thanks for the info. The lenses are 75mm, 100mm both Cooke Kinetal, and 50mm Schneider.

    best regards

    Babar

  2. I'm interested in selling my Arri 2C, variable speed motor, and several lenses in the Arri Std. Mt.

I'm trying to gauge the interest and value of this gear, as based on Ebay I cannot find any that have sold at all in the last while.

If you are interested please reply and I can provide more details. The camera has been checked and and tested and works great. It is in all original condition and the mount has not been modified. 3 lens turret. Academy frame. 1 400 ft. magazine.

I hate to sell this as it is a piece of art and history. Please let me know what you feel the camera is worth.

  3. The variable and constant speed motors for the 2C required 16 volts. Catalog lists the High Speed Motor at 32 volts.

    Charlie

Does anyone know what happens if you run the 2C with a 12V battery and the variable speed motor? Is 24FPS still achievable? 32 FPS?

  4. I guess so Chris, and adjusting the lens mount was something I really wanted to avoid, seeing as how it has the potential to screw things up, but I guess I have no choice. I'll give it a try and see how things turn out. Thanks for your suggestions and feedback!

What confuses me is that the vignetting is on the right side of the frame, where the perfs are on the S16 frame. You'd think that if a lens didn't have enough coverage for a S16 Bolex it'd vignette on the left side, where you're getting the extra 20% of the Super 16 image. Oh well, maybe the centering is really off! The test footage I shot with it came out great, but that was only with 35mm Canon FD lenses, which would have considerably more coverage than then any 10mm lens for the S16mm format.

Elliot, I used to have a Bolex S16 and a 10mm Switar Preset. Mine unfortunately vignetted as well. I believe it depends on the specific example of the lens. I know my Bolex S16 conversion was excellent (JK) so it wasn't an issue with the recentering of the lens mount. However it could be a problem of the centering of the lens itself, and as a result you see the edge of the image circle on the S16 frame. I believe the Angenieux lens covers the frame.

  5. Hi, I am selling my Bolex Switar 10mm preset lens (latest optical formulation). Excellent condition, superb wide angle for Bolex reflex cameras such as the Rex5 etc.

It is on the bay, here is the link:

  6. BUMP LAST CHANCE!

Just had a deadbeat buyer on Ebay :( Need to sell this ASAP... I am dropping the price to $2400.00 or best offer, please email me at bkhan2 at mac dot com if you are interested ASAP as I will throw it back up on ebay otherwise sometime this week. PayPal preferred (verified user also preferred).

    You will love this camera!!

    Thanks.

  7. I have a Bolex RX-5 for sale, Super16 conversion by JK along with viewfinder to 13X, full lube/spring service.

The camera is running just beautifully. JK did a great job on the conversion... some of the best S16 Bolex conversions around. If you are planning on doing a short film or music videos why rent when you can own for this price? Also invaluable for travel S16 footage, one of the most compact user-friendly S16 cameras around.

I will include the Bolex MST motor and the matching battery for this (battery seems to need to be re-celled).

If you are interested please email ASAP at bkhan2 at mac dot com and I will send you pics and more info.

Will be putting this up on Ebay soon. Need to sell ASAP.

    Thank you.

  8. Annie, I sent you a PM.

Thanks for the encouragement Douglas :) j/k Well based on the Ebay the price for a standard 16 Bolex appears not to have changed at all (in fact is slightly higher) since I bought this camera just about a year ago.

It might be fair, but I am not sure that the market will support that kind of number for an MOS camera these days. The prices for 16mm cameras have been dropping a good deal over the past year. If we are not there now I think we may soon be at a place where many 16mm owners end up selling their cameras for a lot less than they are actually worth or just holding on to them.
  9. Congrats Tim, very excited to see how your short turns out!

Just wondering about your recent tests, did you project them or see them on telecine?

Also wondering, I don't have a 1.85 g.g., if I was to shoot in 1.37:1 like Bergman often did, would I still be able to go the standard photochemical route today?

    Hey John,

Hope your post helps others, as for us, that decision has already been made. We are going 1.85 Academy with spherical primes.

I just reopened this thread to share with Patrick how great the 35mm tests came out. Never worked in 35mm before, and didn't really know what to expect. Was blown away by the results and wanted to share with him.

    Best,

    -TIm

  10. I have a Bolex Rex 5 that was converted to Super16 by JKCamera, and the viewfinder was upgraded to 13X. At the same time the camera was given a lube service etc. and is running just great.

I am considering selling it at the moment, and trying to determine the value of this body. Would appreciate your thoughts here - I checked Ebay and there were no S16 Bolexes sold in the completed listings.

    Thank you

  11. In no particular order,

Persona, Days of Heaven, Au Hasard Balthazar, Pickpocket, The Godfather Part 1... being limited to five is hard!

    The next five would be,

Chinatown, Raging Bull, Party Girl, The 400 Blows, La Notte.

  12. I noticed you're in Canada, you may want to try Niagara Custom Labs here in Toronto (www.niagaracustomlabs.com). They're a great lab that deals mainly with art filmmakers so you can send them 100' to process/print, whereas most major labs like Deluxe have minimums. They will also do bleach bypass and cross processing.

Looking to get a 16mm print made from standard 16mm color negative film. Google hasn't helped much, nor has the search feature for this forum. I have heard it is about $20 per 100' to have a print made. No sound required, just for my own personal projector at home.

    Any labs you can recommend?

  13. I've done some reading on Nykvist and still can find very little tech info. Did a search too and not much came up. I know he shot Persona with an Arri IIC camera, but what lenses did he use etc.? Such a gorgeous B&W film.

    Thanks for your help.
