So far we decided on the Samsung T7 drives as they are reliable.

We will decide if we go with only 4 of them with 4TB each and the two other back ups with larger capacity or all the way with the Samsung T7 drives 4TB. I think the price may be a factor of the decision.

  3. Hi All

20 days of shoot 8 with 2nd camera. Alexa Mini 16:9 4K UHD 23.976 fps

I think we are going to shoot total about 18TB-20TB.

    Production wants 3 back ups

By the end of each week Director will take the "weekly Dailies" to watch on her Mac.

Which Hard Drive you recommend and in what sizes  in regard that when watching dailies she will want to watch only the last week so she doesn't need to take the master of the 18TB

    Thanks

  7. Hi Max

Great work on gathering information. i think this thread nailed them all and ofcourse there are the new coming Cooke and Angenieux

    A set of Kowa anamorphic consists of 40mm 50mm 75mm 100mm

I am now working on a front optical adapter which makes the 40mm to 32mm like listed under Clairmont

We have two sets of Kowa and anamorphic back adapter which works on our Cooke Zoom 25-250 MK3

  8. I don't understand this question. The Sony DVW 970 is a 2/3" chip camera with a B4 mount on it. The Innovision Probe II can be ordered/ rented with a B4 mount on it. Was the Sony 970 camera retrofitted to a different mount?

Sorry you re right, must be my ADD.

I have a borescope lens on which I need to put a B4 mount so I can use it on a Sony 970 camera.

The diameter of the thread is the same as the innovision probe II wich is some 56mm. I can also use a 63mm diameter thread but I assume the 56mm is more common.

    Thanks

    David

  9. I just did my first shoot with a RED on a music video yesterday. The camera was so noisy, I was shocked. The internal fan just howls. I don't see how people can use it for dramatic content with such a loud fan.

Go to system>>Set Up>> maintenance >>fan and choose quite or silent (don't remember the difference) once you press the record button the fan will quite down.

And the battery connections are so finicky the power kept on going down, with the 90 second initialization that followed. And using tungsten lights creates a lot of noise in the blue channel with the build they were using. It does take beautiful pictures, but so do a lot of other cameras.

In build 16 booting time is much quicker. There is a problem with the battery connections. Solution is working as much as possible with AC power.

Camera is far far from being perfect, it is quite a negligent manufacturing but you can work with it. It is not a film camera that simply work and produce better image than HD video. I have a lot of criticism on the Red company, it is not a scam as they were described on their early stage but they don't deliver a high standard of a product as far as ergonomic design and work flaw. In fact I may say the ergonomic almost doesn't exist.

  10. We have a Superamerica we trying to sell. I think it is a great camera, though heavy and bulky as you mentioned.

I will put it again for sale.

Can you contact me off list just to know how much should I expect getting for it.

  11. The future of cinema will be stereoscopic.

This means all 35mm cameras, 35mm sensors and 35mm lenses will be useless once the stereoscopic revolution takes off.

    Thanks

In the 1960's & the 1970's all kind of format were made to attract the audience: 180 degrees screen Cinemascope and even 360 degrees screen. At the end of the day we were mostly back to super 35 which was the silent movie format. I think part of the audience is looking for some escapism in the movie and want to look at a movie relax with joy and fun, especially when he is at home at the end of his working day. Digital may replace film but I think the way the story will be told will remain mostly the same. Like the good old books are still printed on paper.
