About Me

I started working as a Clapper Loader whilst studying Cinematography at Surrey Institute of Art and Design, gaining a 2:1 BA (hons) Film and Video Production in 2002 and then carried on after graduating. In 2004 I moved up into Focus Pulling and then in 2006 I was selected by Women in Film and Television to be mentored by Henry Braham BSC during the making of “The Golden Compass.” The placement lasted a year, in which time Henry trained me in the Cinematographers role during pre-production, production and post-production of the feature film as well as helping me experiment with my own Cinematography and insisting I study Art History at The Courtauld Institute. In 2007 I gained my first credit as DOP on the feature length documentary “Welcome Aboard Toxic Airlines” the film premiered at The International Film Festival for the Environment in Paris and spared the call for a public enquiry into the areo-toxic issue and the film had a Cinematic release in the UK. In 2008 I worked as the Camera Operator on feature film “31North62East” which was DOP’d by the President of the British Society of Cinematographer’s: Sue Gibson BSC and I then went onto DOP on my first drama feature film “Ambleton Delight” which has since done the festival rounds and has picked up 6 official selections, 6 official nominations and 3 awards. In 2009 I gained the award for “Best Director of Photography 2009” from The End of the Pier International Film Festival for short film “The View.”
