  1. The sensitivity boils down to the fear of losing film. I think that 35mm is texturally is closer to reality than digital by quite a long margin. The only thing that I can of right where it doesn't act like reality is the motion blur. My eyes don't motion blur when i turn my head. Be it slowly or quickly. Keep to film for realism and digital for a "perfect" ambience.
  2. Like said previously there are so many that it seems not right to mention one without all the others. I would however always include Days of Heaven!
  3. on your backlight add some CTO or amber. It brings the warm tones out from the beer. Thus making it more attractive. Also, make sure you have condensation bubble on the glass.... Good luck!
  4. Also, on a long shot you can get away with far more than when you close in. With this I mean with your lighting. i.e On a long shot you could have harder lighting but on the CU you would soften it.
  5. 2 weeks ago I tore my lateral ligaments on my knee, so just resting, icing and establishing references for a short in November.
  6. Huh!! Don't know what happened there....
  7. I double Andrew's advice there. Use the T stock with an 85b filter. Only if you want it, overexpose your stock rating it slower than it is. I.E rate 500asa at 320asa This will give you a thicker neg, it will render richer blacks, tighter grain etc...

  13. I had a read and it doesn't really point out any pitfalls
  14. I was once told "There is an "official" length of time that you have to comply with to work as a dp. But really and truthfully it is up to you how long it takes." From general consensus, the "official" length in the UK seems to be 10-15years to become a dp. Going through all the steps. As someone that has a natural tendency to break the rules, I never settled for that, I spent little time as an AC. Its not what I enjoyed doing. I worked very very hard to get broadcast work as my bread-and-butter. This then allowed me to work for free on low budget films. I'm not sure whether what I've done so far would've been possible 25 years ago, as the literature and information that we have at such easy disposal these days, wasn't around then. Coupled with each individuals desire to achieve, its authors like Brian and David(and forums like this one), who have shared what they have learnt, that has made it and will make it possible for ppl to make their own choices, instead of being pushed into the process set by the establishment.
  15. Hey Robert, This is a post that has already been brought up. In answer to yours, I say that the most influential artists that I draw inspiration from are Caravaggio, Dali and Turner. Each for their respective individual qualities.
  16. Yes i did. You obviously did and looking into it your name is not strange....humm...I 'm really bad with names but I recognise a face

  17. I'm at a similar situation as yours Jess. Shooting S35mm 2.40. The lab is saying to the producer that they don't charge extra cost on 2.40?! I'm not complaining but I feel a bit at odds with that.....
  18. Hi Guys, I've got a 35mm project coming up that includes shooting a model of some terraced houses. I haven't shot models before. I'm going to select a small focal length lens but I'm wondering if there are any potential optical problems that I'm not aware of when shooting that scale. Thanks for your time. Cheers
  19. That's exactly it. Interesting that your Lab has done that for a while....I've found that here in the UK it has, in the past, happened in a loyalty situation. Cheers
  20. Be interesting to know the charge by the rental companies...
  21. Although 2 & 3 perf is cheaper than 4perf, I don't think it is as cheap as S16. Hey Mike - They are offering 2&3 perf at the same price as S16. I believe that this is now standard for them.
