  1. Phil,

I have to admit I didn't do any lens shading myself for this shoot, for two reasons, the rental house didn't provide me with the proper environment to do this and the lens files were already there for the two lenses I was using.

So you didn't know if the lens files matched the exact lenses you were using? Did you toggle them on and off to see if they improved the image?

  2. Well they should be worth at least $2000US.  :)

If they're Cooke S4 primes than they're probably worth it and much more.

I'll tell you that's alot cheaper than renting a set of S4 primes for a week.

Are you sure that it's $2000US for the set or just $2K for each lens?

Your best bet is to inquire about the item?

Ask why they would be selling it at such a low price...

Also check to see if you can test them before buying...

If they're S4s in really good condition then it's definitely worth it.

You can't really believe that a set of S4s are going for that price??? Lala-land....

  3. So this must be a design fault.

Highly unlikely. What is more likely is a manufacturing problem.

    >On top of that these lenses also have barrelling and pincushioning issues.

    As do many zooms.

  4. Hi,

P.S. I'm not sure I know what you mean about the mags.

I have recently bought 1994 XTR, i have 2 mags one of them runs both ways and one of them one way only, any one know why this is? Also cannot seem to find manual for this camera. Everywhere i look is the prod download. I would be really grateful if anyone could help in some way. This is my first post, love the forum have been reading it for a year or so. Happy new year!!

  5. Panasonic took DVCPRO 50 transport and modified it to also double the bit rate, to 100 Mbps. To squeeze the HD stream onto the tape, the recorded image has to be reduced to 960x720p. Since Varicam records 60p all the time, at any speed setting, the compression is always about 6.5:1. This is needed to squeeze all the data into the tape. Then it is upconveet to 1280x720 pixels.

Calling Varicam recorder 1280x720 is similar to taking SD image, converting it to HD and calling it HD.

    Pete

What is upconverted? The resolution on the TAPE is 960x720 at any frame rate. Coming out of the camera port is 1280x720.

Sounds like you should do a little more fact checking.

  6. So more on point, once you make the image adjustments you intend to use, you can save those settings in a scene file. The SDX allows you to save several scene files in camera (five or so?), and several more on a removable SD card. With enough cards you could build an entire library of "looks."

    Hi,

You can store 4 scene files on the camera. The card (regardless of storage capacity) will store 8 files.

    Jon
