  1. I actually learned a LOT from this months. Roger Deakin's article was like 8 pages and covered techniques he used on both No Country and Jesse James, it really was very insightful and he covered most of the shots I had queries over.

    I found it amazing that the famous train shot was lit with literally a 5k par mounted on the train and then just the handheld lanterns the Jesse's crew had.

     

    Also, the recent issues on Sunshine and Caravaggio - I feel Sunshine really is a photographers movie and as far as Caravaggio...well you always want to read what Vittorio has to write :)

  2. Yes, he flicked Markus in the forehead and said "If it's not in here (hand on heart) then it doesn't matter!" Gave us a big smile and disappeared back into the crowd as we all took it in haha. He is a class act indeed :)

     

    He pretty much explained to us that the technical aspect of photography comes so far after the interpretation and emotion you have as a cinematographer towards the story.
