  1. HDV is long GOP mpeg2. Which means that a group of pictures (GOP) is compressed as one unit which makes the compression much more efficient but makes the format problematic to edit. The GOP is 15 frames which means that if you get a tape drop out you will loose all of them (not just one frame as on DV).

  2. Cheapest way is to shoot with an anamorphic 16x9 adapter AND your camera set to 16x9 mode at the same time. Do a search at dvinfo.net for more information about this.

  3. Solid entertainment here in Sweden has a russian Kinor 35H converted to 2 perf.

     

    What's the difference in negative size between super35 2,35:1 and 2 perf? Or asked in another way: is it worth, in terms of resolution/image quality, the extra cash to shoot super35 instead?

  4. I don't know about 2K scanners but here's a list of facilities in the world that can do s8->HD. I think that s8 telecined to D6 Voodoo should be good enough?
